::Motivational Monday::

I posted earlier on my facebook page, that I know that sometimes no matter what I say, I might not make a difference or change certain situations. While I don't want to focus on the Oscar's and all the controversy that surrounds it. I do want to focus on purpose. Not everyone is created to carry out a message. It takes courage and knowing what your purpose is to follow through with those things that will create or change your future. This morning on the radio a couple of hosts were talking about Chris Rock and his delivery of a message that was difficult but inevitably part of his mission and purpose.  He stood his ground, took the opportunity that he was given and presented or represented a message. Regardless of how many agreed with him. He was there with a purpose.

It makes me think about myself. My own message and how at times, I don't feel qualified to speak it or even qualified to write it. But, I do. My "message" is not always heard and when it is, many might disagree. It's up to us to just put ourselves out there. To rise above and speak. Be heard, no matter what your message is. It will not always be easy. But, we should do it anyway.

I have been fortunate for years now to be given the appropriate platforms to speak. To write. To have a purpose. To create my own purpose. As the days go by and the events come to be, I feel more and more empowered by the amazing women who support me. This past weekend was a crazy one. Somehow I made it through. Got the weekend done and feel amazing about all the small accomplishments I have had until now.

As Monday begins a new week and Tuesday a new month; I think it's time to move forward and take those leaps into that message that has been waiting to explode. Even if you are not sure yet what that might be. No matter what, be present, in your actions and your words. Live the message that you know is filling your heart and brain with ideas and thoughts. Share your message with your friends, your neighbor, your dog, your children, your Husband. Or anyone willing to listen. I always say, even if you only have an audience of ONE and that audience is being impacted then you have achieved your goal.

You don't feel qualified? Then make yourself an expert in your message. I am sure you have the skills to share it, otherwise, you wouldn't feel that urge or the need to share it. Maybe your message is about faith, working hard or even about getting your kids ready for school and out the door in the morning. It is your message and you will know when and how to express it.

You will never know the impact you can create if you don't share that message. If you are in constant fear of the what if's, then your message will remain unknown. Your purpose will not be fulfilled.

Seek your message, master it and share it.

Telling Your Story #Purpose

Yesterday I posted about Building Strategic Partnerships, today I wanted to share how to effectively tell your story to others. I have always known that I wanted others to know more about me.

If you can imagine that to be more possible.

But, it really is. Aside from everything I share here I do have almost 35 years of life in general, 16 years of 24/7 relationship/marriage experience and not to mention the 25/8 of almost 7 years of Momma experience. As well as 5 years of college experience and almost 18 years of work experience. Trust me, there is so much you don't know about me. But, no worries. I have no problem with sharing. And, after the painfully embarrassing YouTube videos I uploaded yesterday and am sharing here today, you will officially know so much more about me. Videos were recorded some time last month but I just now had the guts to upload them thanks to inspiration from an amazing Austin Latina Blogger, Anali of the Nueva Latina (More information about her at the end of this blog). But first....

:: Things to keep in mind when Telling your Story::

1) Know what your purpose is- Even after so many years of knowing who I am and really seeking my purpose. I don't think it's become clear until recently. I am a Momma with a mission and telling my story in a way that is appropriate and relevant is my purpose. I want my purpose to mean something, to empower and to motivate. Never to harm others or my family. So, if you are going to share your story keep in mind, your audience, who might be involved and is it truly serving a purpose. If so, share it. With confidence and move forward. Your story could mean a lot to someone who hears it and the only way to know is by sharing it.

2) Be conscious of what you are about to share- For me my personal story involves a lot of pain, a family history full of turmoil and just things that most might not be comfortable with me sharing. I am very tactful about how I share my story and how much of it is truly relevant. Some details are not always needed and I understand that. Like I said, I am also conscious of who is involved in my story and how it might affect their present lives by me sharing it. So, with that in mind, just think carefully about what you are going to share and how much of it you can share. Or obtain permission if your story involves others. It may or may not. Just be mindful.

3) Be Truthful- This is extremely important. There are so many instances of people who have shared horrible pasts only to gain attention and in the end, their stories were not true. And, trust me the truth always comes back to haunt you. Be honest and truthful. Always keeping in mind number 2 of this list... what you are sharing, how much you are sharing and with who. No need to lie, people should love you and appreciate you for who you are. If you have to lie to them, well they are not meant to be in your life.

4) Be YOURSELF, be unique - I can't tell you enough how much you don't want to be like everyone else. I can't tell you enough how much you really should just do what YOU do. Is it risky? Good. Are others doing it? If not, then GOOD. Like in life, you can't create this fake persona online. Because, when you meet people in person. They will know. They WILL know. That you aren't the totally social and well put-together Momma with the awesome hair and flawless skin.

Cause uhm, duh. They can see you.

If you are that person both on and off the screen, AWESOME, you are God-given. Me. I pray every day that I say the right thing and that the pimples on my face really aren't as big as they appear in the rear-view mirror! Like, really. I will tell you here cause when you see me, hot mess express. For sure. And, those two super cute kids are usually sassy and sometimes dirty faced and stinky from lounging on the couch all day. So be warned, we are real people.

And now....my videos... I created these as a submission vlog for a conference, I was not selected but still wanted Momma's to know my story. One is a short version and the other includes reference to past conference submissions.

This one has Camila in it. HA.

::Building Strategic Partnerships in 2016::

You know how sometimes you make specific plans in your mind for things to go a certain way and then oh yeah. Hello, Life. Well 2016, started with a major plot twist at my job, which could be a great and wonderful change. The universe and the stars were looking out for me and I think I like it. I have for a few years been escaping toxic environments. I love working, I say it all the time. I love my blog, it's become the hidden passion I didn't know I had 8 years ago.

Having my 8-5 pm merge with my passion, has been in the works for years now. It had not ever worked out. But, now I feel SO much closer than ever before. And, I feel timing couldn't be better, cause it is.

I also started my year with saying YES, to a lot of great things. I also wanted to remain local with events and conferences, and so far, so good. How did this happen? Well honestly, even though it's not happening as I thought it would, it's happening. The best thing is that I have had this need to tell my story, who I am, where I come from and how I make it all work. Suddenly those doors have opened widely.

All the while, these words remained in my head; strategic partnerships and tell your story or purpose. Today I will share with you how I feel you can build good strategic partnerships.

:: Things to keep in mind with Strategic Partnerships are::

1) Not everything that shines is a star- Don't be blinded by the social media numbers that I rock, well not me but JLo. Obviously, she is a superstar. In real life, we want to not only seek good partners but also be good partners. Just cause people have thousands of followers, are they really superstars or are they duds? Do they really create relevant and useful content? Do they have quality content like you? Does your vision look like theirs? Or is it very similar?

You can't be blinded by the shining lights, you must look past the numbers, and their possible "celebrity" status and figure out if there is depth. If they are all surface or are  they really making the light shine brightly for a reason.

2) Build relationships (the money comes later)- Really get to know who you want to work with and what they stand for. Do their visions align with yours? Just because someone can potentially make you money, doesn't mean you should work with them. At the end of the day, some of my best partnerships with brands and people have been because I truly like their vision and they truly like my style.

I have repeat brands that come to me regardless of my pitch. Or brands that just come to me without even pitching. Usually, they have studied me and my blog and my style and they like it. The money, perks, and benefits are just that... perks of the relationship being built.

3) Be Supportive- Being supportive is so important. But, being consistent and having mutual levels of support is, even more, important. You can't just support people when it's most convenient for you. Yes, we are both trying to gain something. Whatever that gain might be it can be important too but at the same time, if one side is gaining more than the other, the trust is lost.  I don't ever want to be the person always giving or taking, neither are productive to anyone. You will lose credibility if people realize you are just trying to gain from them and never give in return.

So, supporting one another is not only key for all around success but also for building those relationships that will really allow you to be who you are and create productive partnerships. For women the concept of partnerships is far more important these days. Let's try to support one another and build empires that we can all be successful in!

Look for tomorrow's post on telling your story, some fun Youtube videos will be required......

::10 Positive things to do BEFORE 2016::

The new year will be upon us soon, in 30 days to be exact. I love happy, positive posts that will help us grow. 2015 has been a great one. I will have a reflection post soon. But, for now I wanted to kick off our "new year resolution" making, early. Only because being prepared and envisioning what I want in 2016 is highly important to me. I have been doing this for a couple of years now and things have just slowly become better and gone in a more desired direction. Now, I have said this before, my challenges and my vision boards don't go without troubles or difficulties. They just help me get through the tough moments easier.

Let's begin. How can you make 2016 a better and bigger year?

::Envision your 2016::

Think about what it is you want, envision your happy place. Never a prefect world but always happy with your choices and the path you are walking. What you want for your family, your career, your education, your friendships, your business endeavors and partnerships. Anything goes. Sometimes the bigger the dream the better making those dreams come true though might take small steps and setting a series of smaller goals. These goals can be monthly goals. Just know that the process takes times. Be patient.

::Write it down::

Now that you have it all set-up in your mind and you have envisioned what 2016 will look like, write it down! One of my biggest mistakes is thinking, and thinking and not making notes or writing it down. Write your vision out as bullet points if you want just quick notes, or into your planner as monthly or weekly goals so that it's already planned. Writing down what you want is very important. It creates a visual, it's another reason why I believe in vision boards. This year I even created a digital vision board on Pinterest. Anything to help me SEE everything that I want, helps.

::Positive thoughts::

Set your mind in the right direction and the rest will follow. Trust. One of my biggest challenges year to year is my weight. Some months out of the year, I can't. I won't. My mind can't focus on being strict and disciplined, it wants to just be. I think months like these are necessary, it helps prepare our minds for what we really want. Once your mind is set on something it's hard to not go through with it, at least for me. I can be very stubborn. Mindset is everything!

::Positive Words::

Words, my friend Jotina has an excellent book about our language and how we should change this. I myself have done several #30daychallenege's now. And, 2016 will not be an exception, already planning it, so be ready January 1. The 30 day challenge is mainly on my Instagram. And, trust me, it has truly changed me. I used to work in a negative environment with co-workers whose words were always unhappy and complaint, once I changed my language to myself, that situation turned itself around. Our minds and our language are key to progressing. I have lived it.

::Start your weight loss plan now::

I started boot-camp about a month ago in November, knowing myself and that I love to eat. That and that the holidays were coming up and that I suck at self-control. I got a good deal on Texas Fit Chicks through Groupon and went with it. This week I started on my second month and have signed up for 3 new months. Oh this will be hell. But, it's okay because I am already loving the changes in my body and the 7 pound weight-loss in November. I have pictures on Instagram. Not like transformation stuff, but motivational ones that keep me going and reminded. If you start now, you won't have to think about it come January 1, you will already have a plan and your habits set. Just sayin'. As they say, the early bird gets the worm...and the abs! Ha.

:: Take a Break::

We all know that those who hustle succeed, but every once in a while a break is  much needed. You don't want to burn yourself out and lose sight of what you are really after. Taking a break and reorganizing your thoughts and plan is needed. I try to do this often, sometimes it's easier said than done. I am a person who constantly needs to be in motion, only because my anxiety and depression will kick in if I don't. And, that's even harder to shake. But, I do believe in resting and making sure that I remain focused so I take breaks, when needed. A break for everyone is different. For me, even not doing laundry, staying off social media after 5 p.m. or skipping a blog are all good breaks. I mentally shut down and enjoy things like; napping, T.V. and annoying my Husband and kids to do things!

::Take up a Hobby::

Helps fuel creativity and new ideas. I love making things, writing and exercising. All, I feel, are good hobbies to have. I have started doing some photography and learning more about taking quality pictures. I love making wreaths and headbands. Of course writing is my obvious passion. Exercising I feel is a good hobby, keeps you busy and in shape. I am not as good at that but I try. Always doing the things I really like, because they keep me motivated and inspire me so much. Plus they make me happy and keep me in a good mood which is valuable to good family life.

:: Eat Well::

Hardest thing ever for this Mexican Momma who loves ALL foods. But, I do notice that when I eat well I feel better. About myself, about my energy and overall mood. Good healthy food is so important in your 30's and beyond, I am sure. I ate so much crap food for so long that now, I would rather eat clean healthy homemade food. It's good every once in a while to have a good cheat meal, but for the long haul I prefer healthy eats. I get a lot my food prep ideas from Pinterest . Your body and mind will love you!

::Sleep::

This doesn't apply to me. Ha. I should sleep more. I can't sometimes. I have a problem shutting down and refuse to take medicine. Even after a long day waking up before 6 a.m. and exercising every night, I still can't seem to shut down. Insomnia is a real issue I have had for years, since High School. But, now well into my 30's, I know how important it is and when I can, I do sleep well. It's vital to my health. I can function just fine even on a couple of hours of sleep, my body is kind of used to it.

::Go Out::

Being social and meeting up with friends or meeting new people are vital, you never know who you will meet and how they will impact your life. Friends are a good reminder of how awesome your life's journey has been. Going out with your Hubby or significant other, is just as important to relax and have fun. I have the most fun on date-nights now with my Husband because they are so long overdue at times. They help remind me of how life brought us together and we always sit and think about the kids which is an amazing reminder of how much God has blessed us over the years.  This all helps re-inspire you on so many levels. So have a taco, drink a margarita, enjoy life and the rest will follow.

{Thankful Thursdays} Link-Up!!

Have not done one of these in a while... definitely need to be reminded these days....

Thankful Thursdays Button

This week I am most thankful for:

{My Age} I will be 32 in June. That means I have lived through a lot with a lot of people who have come and gone. I am thankful for life, my life experiences and always making the best of every situation. I have in my 32 years gained wisdom, faith, and hopefully maturity. I know what I want and where my life is going. Sure nothing is set in stone and I don't have life figured out but I definitely know who I am and where I am going.

{Sincerity} I have a lot of friends who have the best interest in mind and who are all living their lives on their own terms and following their own paths. I like to think that when it comes to our relationship they are being sincere. I am thankful for their sincerity and honesty. Be who you are and never allow popularity to overcome truth. It's what I have learned.....

{Becoming a Stay@HomeMomma} My children will only be 3 { and 7 months} and 2 yrs old once. I will never be able to come back to this stage of their lives again, it's been so critical, our bonding, my patience being tested, and our lives being rocked to their very core. We have had to experience the best and worse of each other to know that, this is it, our little family of 4, we have each other and I pray that we will be here for one another for years, and years to come. My 6 months at home have made me thankful for my life, my children who are an amazing Blessing and for my Husband who has become an even more amazing Provider. It's been difficult. But, I am thankful.

{Social Media/Networking} This has made me feel relevant. I usually shy away from joining big groups of super important and accomplished Bloggers/Writer/Activist/ Social Media Gurus because I am intimidated by their expertise. But, I have been so Blessed to have been added to some pretty awesome groups of  Bloggers/Writer/Activist/ Social Media Gurus not just from Texas but from all over the U.S. They have made me feel as if what I sit and enjoy doing is well worth it. I am thankful for those group of  Bloggers/Writer/Activist/ Social Media Gurus  who have made me feel as if I belong. It's so important as a Stay@HomeMomma to have a sense of self and community. Thank you everyone.

What are you most thankful for this week??

{Momma of Dos} ♥ ♥

I know I have said this before, but I didn't picture my life here. As a Momma and Wife. I knew maybe, one day God would Bless me with children, but I didn't know He would BLESS me with children. Becoming a Momma has been one of the most amazing, most rewarding, most beautiful Blessings that God has given me in this life. I don't think I have ever felt this way about any other "accomplishment" in my life.

I was an ambitious one. It runs through my veins I guess. I knew I wanted success and I was set out to get there. Until I started gaining "real world" success and I thought, this is nothing. There has to be more. Something better has to come. OH.BOY. Did it ever! The "MORE" was an almost 9 month "ordeal"{really ALMOST 9 months, but technically 8 months and 2 weeks.}. I mean I was creating life, it had to be grand right? I didn't feel grand, I was huge, in pain, swollen, I was on a diet for my Gestational Diabetes, I was, yep, PREGNANT!

I thought;"this will be good."

Then, September 16th came in 2009 and I was ready. Ready to meet this new little person, that by the grace of God I had grown in my belly. This new little man in my life. What would he look like? Who would he look like? What would he be like? ::and the tears build as I type:: The feelings build up as I think about it. What would he become? How big of a Blessing would he be?

Then he arrived.

His entrance. A memorable one. His first glance. Heart piercing. His first embrace. Like nothing I had ever, EVER felt before. Life. It was complete. It was an awe inspiring one. I didn't know what to do with myself. I knew I wanted to spend every waking moment with him. I knew I didn't want to sleep so I could watch him sleep. I knew. That the "MORE", was being a Momma.

God gave me many failed opportunities at being of this world. At becoming a "supervisor" in my worldly jobs. Every time, I was so disappointed. I was so devastated. I was a failure.

Then, I become a Momma and NOTHING. ELSE. MATTERED. EVER. AGAIN. My success, my accomplishment was living.

Then came 2011. The success was magnified even more. Not only would God have allowed me (had trusted me, had specifically chosen me) to live through one amazing moment, but DOS. Her pregnancy was so much easier. I knew what to except and planned for it. It wasn't so bad. I gained less weight, was not so sick and was used to the meal plan. Her birth. Just like her, dramatic but sweet. {Oh you haven't met Cami? That girl is some drama! Ha. But she is also my sweet little feisty one.}

These days I share giggles and prayers with them. And that Supervisor job..I have it... times TEN. I don't mind it. God knows I can handle it. Is it perfect? Never. Is it awesome? Absolutely. Am I accomplished? I am Blessed beyond my wildest dreams.

Being this Momma of Dos is molding me into the Momma that my Dos will need as they grow through this world and attempt at their own failed accomplishments until they too find their way.....

Just because I am happy doesn't mean I am perfect. God didn't create this life to be easy but to be lived. With peace. Happy and in Love. With Faith and hope. Above all with Jesus as the center of our families. I pray that God is in our home and that He will guide this Momma into the Blessing that my children need as they mature into the people that God has them planned to be.

I didn't plan this path but I chose to follow it with all my heart no matter what or where it leads me for Him and for them....

And, life has NEVER been the same.... or better than where I am now... ever....

{This post is part of my Identity Series with the previous posts ::HERE::. Inspired by one beautiful Momma named Vanessa over at DE SU MAMA. By the way; Huge CONGRATS to her and her beautiful family!!! She just had a handsome little gentleman named, Sebastian Richard!!!!}

Cause I'm Human.

I find myself asking; why? A lot lately.

Seeking answers about life in general, about my Faith, about success, about goals?

I love to Blog and would do it fill~time if I could! I love sharing and expressing.

I love when I eventually get feedback...good..or bad... which then leads me to another question; why not?

Is what I say {type/believe in} important?
Does it impact {in a positive family/marriage/Faith oriented manner}?
Does my sharing inspire or make you think?
Is it informative and joyful, and joy filled.....

At what point do I let it go and just write for self-fulfilment, for growth, for sake of keeping track of memories.....

My goal as a full-time outside the home {Christian/Catholic} Working Mommy/Wife "Blogger" is to identify. To create an identity that can be relate-able to MANY, not just to "OTHCWMWB's" {Ha. Came up with that one on my own ::insert cheesy smile here::; it's kinda long I know}

Then I think..am I Bloggy High Maintenance? {Ha.}

What do I need? What do we all need?

After a late night email, some nights ago, with one of my SuperBFF/Momma's of Faith....who mentioned a support group... I came across a book, which another Family Mommy Friend/Aunt gave me when I first took Santi to daycare last year...it's the Houston Mama's Handbook....and then,  it hit me... I am NOT high maintenance and what I Blog about may be of support to just about ANY other Momma out there!

There for...I am calling this my Momma Blog Followers Support forum! {Ha. Man I gotta come up with shorter names!}

If you have ANY resources that we can share PLEASE comment or email me....

WHAT EVER THE RESOURCE MAY BE...

Here are some that I have found over time; We all need a helping hand:

Houston Area Women Center

Women's Resource Center

Crisis Intervention of Houston

Community of Faith

Catholic Charities

WorkForce Solutions

Casa Juan Diego

To find my "NITCH"....or Not?

As you all may remember I was on maternity leave not too long ago....a week ago to be exact...

During those 8 weeks, I was able to have a dream come true, although short-lived, it was much needed and definitely appreciated and taken advantage of!

I was indeed a STAY-AT-HOME MOMMA (or SAHM)! And, was totally rocking at it, if I may say so myself! (Toot-toot, Ha. Ha.)

Then....as I mentioned before...

Life tends to happen and my little hot pink fluffy magic rug was pulled from under my big hope-filled feet (yes, my feet have hopes too! ha.) ...and I totally missed the pillow (meaning my feelings hit the pavement)...Eeeeek.

During those 8 weeks, I developed and almost fully mastered....being a Crafty Momma...and you know what? I loved it.

I was creating, and following through with my endless possibilities. I loved it.

But, I know there are plans that I can make..but they are not for me to control. {Trust me, this is NOT  a complaint post....trust me.}

Well during my first week back at work, I remembered that place I had been in not too long ago.

A place where I dreamed of being a corporate Momma with an outside the home job and pant suits [ YES, PANT SUITS! If I had that kind of fun, lunch meeting, corporate type job and the money to buy me some cute pant suits! {Ha.}] None the less, I was there. That place where I didn't mind being that 9 to 5 Mom that works and runs home to be a Mom and Wife to a busy afternoon family.

Then, those 8 weeks came, and for a short time, everything was perfect. I was THAT Momma in that OTHER place, that hides deep in the back of my silly little heart....the Full-Time, Stay-at-Home-Momma, with the fun and lovable and most adorable children, who cleans, cooks, reads, watches "The Talk" at 1pm and Oprah at 4pm [before she decided to leave TV!].

AND YES...WHO CREATES....

Who shines at being a MOM!

Who LOVES being a WIFE.

That Mom that after 8 weeks of chaos thinks, yes...let me take on just a bit more....I don't have an outside the home job..I think I can handle it.

But, then.... THIS place comes back. The place where responsibility reigns, and food needs to be put on the table, where I want to take my kids to the zoo, museum, and circus without having to really deal with a budget. This place where I have to wake up, get dressed, pull my kids out of bed and get them ready for another set of arms to hold, to love and to care for.

It's hard. I yearn. I hurt. I envy. I cry. I think...no one knows my pain....

And, after the pain subdues..I search...for THAT place again.

That's where I am...

Seeking...

{My heart hurts at the thought of my children not being around me all day.... ::deep sigh::}

But, I know.

That THIS place...has a purpose...a reason... a season...a time...

Reflections and in days to come....

I think back to when I started my Blogging journey. {2008, Wordpress, during Presidential Election, while starting a new job}

My life was "simple".

I wrote with "passion", for lack of a better word.

I was sarcastic and funny, honest and real...so I was told

I had a great teacher.{Heather Armstrong}

I wrote about life in general and everyday happenings...with a passion.
Then I wrote about my Faith and my journey and purpose through life....with a passion.

Soon after Motherhood entered my life and I took that on and wrote about my son and being a first time Momma...with  a passion.

And now.... all of the sudden

I'm lost.

Lost, confused.

Awe stricken and in shock!

Ha.
Dramatic a bit?

I mean. Surely, I have plenty of topics to discuss, many "great" thoughts to jot down, "creative" ideas and "fascinating" stories to share.

Surely! {Ha.}

I mean.

I just spent 8 weeks at home..."finding myself", recouping and adjusting to life as a Momma of Dos. Voy a creer que no tengo nada de que habldar? No puede ser. {Whoa. What just happened?}

Se me salio lo Mexicana. No entiendo. {Ha.}

I am searching for "me".

As cliche and played out as that may sound....but I am. I think we have many great opportunities to seek, ourselves, to dig deep inside and figure out who we are...as many times as needed, to recreate who we are and what we want to become, many great opportunities to change and connect.

I know who I am, I know what and who I love....I just need to start creating it, writing it, Blogging about it all, and making sense of it.

Life goes on.

Life is life.

I am a "normal", "average" and an everyday Momma, Wife and Employee. I know though that God has created me to be EXTRAORDINARY and Purpose filled...and that is what I am after. Now as a Momma of Dos...I feel more encouraged, motivated and inclined to seek that Super Mom within me and allow her to grow and shine!

I know I can connect with some or most or a lot of Mom's out there.... even to single Mom's at times {with my Hubby being a student and employed full-time/part-time}.  And, that is what I am after. I was to inspire and aspire! We are more than just Mommas, Wives, Students and Employees.... we are Great Women created in an Image of God. With Faith, Love, Hope and Strength.

In the days to come; I will go back to work, create a new routine, find better ways to be more organized, find new strength to get it ALL done, renew my Faith, seek Him, and work on Me.

On my Momma con Fe Blog I wrote about seasons...and this is a new one for me... a good one, I hope.

Welcome to my world as a Momma of Dos..the journey will get a little bumpy {with ups and downs, good and bad times, obstacles and difficulties} so fasten your seat belt..and know that it should be an enjoyable loving and faith-filled journey none the less....and that even though I may fail..because I am human....I will never loose hope... hope in God, myself, my family, or my friends...

Life goes on...and in the end...IT'S NOT THAT SERIOUS PEOPLE!

Porque? {Why?} No really...Porque?

Why do we do what we do?
Why do we say what we say?
Why do we behave how we behave?

I have recently taken some "time"...for a Blog-cation....and I was thinking...why the quiet time....why?

For me. I remain quiet and out of sight for A reason...for HIS reason. For His purpose. For His Glory.

Sometimes we just need the quiet, the peace, the time away from those who you usually talk to ...to listen TO HIM!

Sometimes I just need to get away from the "busy-ness" of the "Social Networks", they are a true distraction from Him. Not to mention, if you let that get too out of hand...well you end up regressing {stuck, the same, and without true change} instead of progressing {for His will, His purpose, His Glory} ...does that makes sense?

Balance. That's all. Balance. Priorities. Real Priorities.

So, the silence and away time. Is much needed.

Also, I am very much in research mode. HA. I keep saying that, but I have started answering the Top 10 New Mommy questions and the research is going GREAT! If I do say so myself.

{Just a little update... I do have some baby updates and belly bump pics that I will post soon..not sure when....now back to my Blog-cation...hahahaha.}

Luke 10:38-42 (New International Version)

At the Home of Martha and Mary
 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”    41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

All I know.....

Today I felt like I needed truth. Truth.

I know this. I am not perfect. My husband is not perfect. My family is not perfect.

I strive everyday to make it all work. To pull it all together. But, I can't do it all without the help of the person who the Lord chose for me to make it all work with.

My husband.

4 years ago we vowed to pull it all together...together. To make it work. To take the world on. Together. As a couple. As man and wife. Without involving my mommy or his. Without involving my BFF or his. And ONLY involving the Lord. HE brought us here. He has held us. Together. These days life becomes more hectic, more chaotic and more of everything except, together. The only way to keep it together to work it all out. Together. Is to try your best.

God will lead the way. And in your life HE will Lead You. It's me and my husband for our children. The way it was my parents for their children and his parents for their children. We are Blessed and can only do our best. If you are a single parent, I admire you. I really do.

This song. I love it. I just can't enough of it. Read the lyrics. Look the song up. Think about it. Man and wife. Husband and Wife. Not mom and dad and husband and wife.... the Bible states it very clear:

Genesis 2:24 (New International Version, ©2010)

 24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

I believe this mind set should be taken on before you get married. Before you decide to get married and flow into your marriage. I feel like it has been the only way that my husband and I have found focus, peace and truth....

Sanctus Real - “Lead Me”

I look around and see my wonderful life
Almost perfect from the outside
In picture frames I see my beautiful wife
Always smiling
But on the inside, I can hear her saying...

“Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, what about us?

Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone”

I see their faces, look in their innocent eyes
They're just children from the outside
I'm working hard, I tell myself they'll be fine
They're independent
But on the inside, I can hear them saying...

“Lead me with strong hands
Stand up when I can't
Don't leave me hungry for love
Chasing dreams, but what about us?

Show me you're willing to fight
That I'm still the love of your life
I know we call this our home
But I still feel alone”

So Father, give me the strength
To be everything I'm called to be
Oh, Father, show me the way
To lead them
Won't You lead me?

To lead them with strong hands
To stand up when they can't
Don't want to leave them hungry for love,
Chasing things that I could give up

I'll show them I'm willing to fight
And give them the best of my life
So we can call this our home
Lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone

Father, lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone

Admit it!

I have to admit.

The months in this year have taken me further away from WHO I AM. From the One I love and WHERE I SHOULD BE.

As my good friend Casey would say....DRA-MA! But, it's so un-needed. I know that. Now.

I embrace it all.

And move forward. Once MORE. Yes. I am human you know?

Well what a better time to embrace who I am, change and move on. Forgive and Let go. Then now. Easier said than done. I know. Trust me. I know. And to my friends, new and old, Casey and Kathy. I may sound like a broken record but I admire their compassion, loyalty and commitment. Their Faith and purpose. In my life and in theirs. Thank You ladies!

Thanksgiving just passed and much to my surprise it was such a PEACEFUL day. I was surrounded by my family with much Love and plenty of laughs. And oh yes, the food. The FOOD. Was so good! So good

I loved spending 4 days at peace with my family, having fun, relaxing and enjoying.

One thing that I did was watch Toy Story 3. Yes, I was one of the few that has gone this long without seeing it. But, as with everything around me. It was for a good reason. Life has been so hectic and tiring, that God knew when, yes GOD. He knew when it would be the perfect time for me to watch this movie. Give it my undivided attention. And well, I have seen 4 times now since last week Friday! I love it.

The message. The story. It's awesome. Plain and simple. Awesome

My favorite part comes at the end of the movie and without spoiling too much and allowing those who have seen it my own personal take on it.

Here it goes:

The movie is ultimately about; Friendship. I parallel it to MY friendship with God. The characters Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bulls Eye, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, the 3 Aliens, Hamm, Rex and Barbie all prove commitment to their owner Andy. Even though Andy is grown and no longer plays with them, they know that he is there for them the way they should be there for him. They are loyal and devoted to him. As friends should be. I loved this part of the movie. It's very difficult to find true friends who you can be yourself with and who accept you and love you for who you are. So, for this movie to remind children and adults that friendships can be everlasting and that all we need to do is have some FAITH in one another and move forward, was just breathtaking for me. The moment when Woody reminds them that they should all go back to Andy because he is who they belong to, that just leaves me in awe. Woody knew the real reason the toys got placed on the curb and no one believed him. When they too found out the truth. They felt bad and began their mission to return home, the place they should have never left!

The next moment that just captured my attention was at that very moment when the toys had been betrayed and they were getting ready to loose all hope. Or it seemed as if all hope was lost. Where Jessie asks Buzz what they should do and Buzz reaches out and holds her hand and everyone else follows. They are ready to face the worse possible end. Together. Having "lived" a long life of lasting love, commitment and friendship. They prepare to let go and let God. And at that very moment. "The Heavens" open up. FAITH has reigned and they were saved. They never lost Faith in one another. I loved that. God is like that. He knows when we need Him the most and at that very moment He reaches out as our Saviour and reminds us that we should never loose HOPE or FAITH in Him. He will always be there for us!

I love this movie.

The final moment and the other thing that got me throughout the movie was Andy. He grew. He grew to fast it seemed. In the end his mom holds him and he reminds her that she will always be with him. I have a son and a daughter on the way. I can't stand to think that one day..... and yes though my son is 15 months and my daughter is not born yet, the day will come when they will have to say good-bye. Being that I should, by then, be a good understanding Mother with FAITH and Hope that her children will be ok "in the real world", I will let go but I can't even think of that day!

To say the least. I cried. I full out sobbed. I held my Santi and cried. To the point that my husband said; "What in the world is wrong with you!" When he saw the movie. He too looked at our son and said; "I don't want him to leave us." But, we know. Just like our parents have let us go and allowed us to now form our our family, make and learn from our mistakes, and "grow up".

Well we too must let go and Let God.

I hope everyone had as GREAT of a Thanksgiving as I did. And, that you will join me on this new journey and year in my life. I know God has great things in store for us. In the mean time. I am seeking. Seeking ways to get back to me. To get back to God. I need Him in my life.

How can I not?

How can I not be Thankful?

I have lived a long 29 years going on 30. I am Thankful for my LIFE. For LIFE in general. In those 29 years, yes I have had trials and obstacles but I have never fallen so deep that I couldn't get back up. Every time I have fallen, every mistake, every season has made me who I am. Stronger. With greater Faith.

I graduated from college in 2005 and in 2006 I married my Prince Charming. I am Thankful for him. For what he has allowed me to become; a strong working Mom. I am Thankful for his shoulder on which I have cried many a times. I am Thankful for his strong work ethic with which he supports our family day in and day out. I am Thankful for his loyalty and respect, he loves me and cares for me. I am Thankful for his personality, it's always so hard to stay mad at him. I am Thankful for his arms which hold me when I don't feel well. I am Thankful for his lips which always speak me up and Praise God when I am down. I am Thankful that the Lord gave me such a strong, wise and loving partner to be by my side!

In 2009 I became pregnant with my son and in 2010 I have conceived a daughter. I am Thankful to the Lord that after so many years of doubt and speculation He has allowed me to become a Mother. The most beautiful Blessing in my life. The breath that gives me life as I grow life within me. Being a Mother has changed my path, my goals and my life! I am Thankful for those tiny feet which pitter-patter all over the cold ceramic floors in my house. I am Thankful for those little hands with little sticky finger that grab for my face at 5am. I am Thankful for that little Man that call me "mama" and then "papa" and then "caca" all at once! I am Thankful for his laugh, his cry and his shouts! I am Thankful for the little feet and arms that pushing and pulling within me. She will soon join our crazy little BLESSED home!

I am Thankful for the "things" in my life as well. A home I can call my own, with 3 rooms not with 10 but perfect for  what each one of our family members needs; a warm room to sleep in each night. I am Thankful for my car which takes me places even if it clutter-clatters and puffs some smoke every once in a while, because it keeps me from riding the bus or walking the streets of Houston which are all too often cold, wet and dangerous. I am Thankful for my job which allows me to feed my family and pay my bills on a month to month basis.

I am Thankful for all the other people in my life as well. My family; Ma', Pa', Sissy, Pelon and Max. I am Thankful for my nephew, Olin and his crooked smile. It's exactly how we should be crazy, out of place and order but in Love. My extended family from Mexico, the Valley, Houston and Michigan! Mis primas; Yoli and Fabs and Moni. Mis primos; Eric and Fred! ALL of my husbands family; his Parents, his siblings-Ale and David, his cousins-all the girls and all the guys! (Erica, Danielle, Eric, Mike, Nana, 'Quel, 'Fia, Yaya, Chuy, Mr. Edward, Gloria, etc etc etc.) I am Thankful for all of my Aunts and Uncles and all of Ricardo's Aunts and Uncles. Family is Love. Family is support. Family is chaos! But in the end, we are all family! I love you all.

I am Thankful for all my friends; Casey, Yvonne, Alma, Clarissa, Twanda, Delana, Lola, Maria, Ruth, Edith, Teneshia, Du-Ha,Gabby and Kathy...and many many more! I may not see you or talk to you everyday but I love you and appreciate all of your support, your kind words, your slaps over the head and everything that your friendship has done in my life over the years!

I have so many people and things to be Thankful for. I am Blessed. I am HAPPY. I am Loved.

Thank God.

I hope you have MANY many many things and people to be Thankful for.

Many Blessing to you and your family!

1 Corinthians 13: 1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Don't eat toooo much Turkey!!!!

A Year Ago, Today!

I started Blogging in 2008 when I was new to my current job and needed an outlet for daily stresses. Little did I know that I would love it and become a Blog addict. This was my previous Blog which I will soon be printing so that I can review and learn how much I have grown. I hope I can impress myself.

I started THIS Blog a year ago today.

My life was changed and I wanted to start a new Family Blog little did I know that my family would grow so fast. I am now expecting my second child a little tiny Pink Princess. Her name is being decided on and I am just happy to know I can call her a SHE!

A year ago today:

  • My friends were all having babies.
  • My son was 2 1/2 months.
  • My sister was 6 months pregnant.
  • I was experiencing Motherhood full on!
  • I had made a new BFF, her name is Casey. Today she is still by my side...THANK GOD.
  • I was getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving with my husband and my son!
  • My husband had been laid off for the second time in the last year or so.
  • I wasn't sure if I would keep up or could keep up with my Blog since I had a baby.
  • 2 of my uncles had just passed away.
A year ago today.

We shall see what a year from today will bring us!

Many Blessing to your family this Holiday Season!

Be Thankful and Give Thanks, God is Good!

Fears.

Yesterday, I found out that I am having a little Girl to go with my little man.

I never really thought about it. Having children, raising them and keeping them safe. I just thought we would have children and live happily ever after, to a certain extent. I mean, I have 3 siblings we grew up just fine and we are all alive, healthy and happy!

Now that I am a mom, I worry. I think. I think too much. I think too far in advanced. I worry. I have fears. Of my children being hurt. Of their pain. Of their educations. Of their morals. Of their hearts. Of their souls. Of their Love. Their love for themselves. Their love for others. Self-respect and respect for others. Their Faith. Their Love for Jesus. Then I think. It's all on me and my husband. What my children think, how they act, where they are, and who they love. They will only resemble who my husband and I are.

Just last night my husband and little man where getting ready for bed...my husband kicked his shoes off and jumped into bed. Two minutes later our little man was throwing his shoes on the floor and laid right next to him. I walked in and my husband said, "I think I am already showing him bad habits." I said "Why?" He said, "I threw my shoes on the floor and he did the same." He was disappointed in himself and his actions. He then went on to say that he really needs to watch what he does, what he says and what he watches on TV from now on because he realizes that at 14 months Santiago already wants to be like Daddy.

Funny thing is no matter how far we are from each other my husband and I always seem to be on the same page. About it all. Earlier that night as I waited for him to get home from school, I was watching the news. Local and National. No harm done. I work in communications, I am used to media. Well last night was made a  real impact. As I sat and thought about how my son was sitting in my sight playing and how I will soon be a mom to a little girl, the news anchor stated "Nuclear Weapons". My heart skipped a beat and the worse kind of terrorist attack and take over played out in my mind in a matter of seconds. All I could see was my two young children in danger and me having to flee the country with them. You see what I mean?

Normal? Yes. Far fetched? I don't think so. In this world anything is possible. I quickly changed the channel and prayed. Prayed that God would watch over us and that no matter what His will would be done.

I moved on. If I dwell now. I will make myself sick. All I could think was. I have to be careful what I watch, what I say and what I do.

In the end. Yes, as adults our kids are sure to resemble us and follow our steps but they do have free will and God's will. They will be OK. I have Faith and I trust. I will also do everything that a parent can possibly do to help them, protect them, teach them, and guide them. In every good direction as possible.

We all have fears. How do you deal with them?

My "Niche"

This week I established that I want to take my Blog; "to the next level!" Whatever that means and entails? In return I have started doing some research and thinking of topics and different "features" I want my Blog to have.

Just today I read a "Mommy Blog" where the Blogger established that one must find your "niche" before moving into the "Big Time". I don't have super "killer" photography skills, though if time ever permits I wouldn't mind taking a class or two. I am not a very studied or skilled writer, I don't think. Although, through college I had pretty good grades in my English classes and all those Psychology research papers made me famous; not literally but with my classmates and teachers. In the past I have been told, mostly by my Husband, a very bias critic, that I am an amazing writer. I think it's his way of getting me to help with his homework. I think I am average. But, working on it everyday, hence the Blog.

What I am and what I feel has become my passion more so in the last year is being a Wife and now a Mommy! If I had one thing to say that I was truly passionate about it would be my little family of soon to be 4!

I love being a wife. I love experiencing God in my life. I love having a son and being pregnant again! These were not words that years ago, at say 24, I thought I would ever say. I was a very career ambitious person. A woman who thought like many at 24; that I was on top of the world and deserved nothing less than diamonds and caviar!

Wow.

I have changed.

Which brings me to my first passion; Jesus. I love God. He has done amazing things in my life and is a huge reason why today I am a Wife and a Mom!

So, what would I say is my "niche"?

Family and FAITH!

A more thorough explanation? I would say that situations, people and things that bring forth an evolving and growing family and a stronger and more obedient Faith is what I am passionate about. Evolving as an individuals in every aspect of my life and growing as a whole with my family.  I have matured much more than I could have ever imagined and I have learned from every failure and mistake as much as I know I can. And, I want to continue to learn and grow.

I am a  huge advocate of marriage and Godly husband/wife relationships. My LOVE for God is what allows me to learn everyday that every marriage no matter how great could always use a little help. It's the little time of maintenance that creates a wonderful, lasting, and respectful marriage. It's about communication and passion for one another in every aspect.

I am also a HUGE advocate for education. I will tell you many times that I am a University of Houston Alum, it's not to brag but for people to know that I am proud of my accomplishments and wish the same education success to all other young Hispanic students! I can also then say that I am a HUGE advocate for; culture. My Hispanic, Mexican/American roots that is. I love meeting and hearing success stories of other young Hispanic men and women who are achieving everything and anything that they set their minds to!

As for my Faith, I am making mistakes everyday and growing because of them. Learning, humbling myself and moving on. That's all I can do!

In all, I am not sure I have fully evolved into my "niche" but I feel like I am certainly working hard everyday to get there. Only time will tell.

Have you found your "niche"?

If so what is it? I would love to know!

On a side note:
I have my Gender Ultrasound Monday. Above all I want to see my baby again and make sure he or she is ok! I pray that my pregnancy continues fairly uneventful. Come next week we will know, if Santiago will have a new little Sister or Brother!

We are excited!

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend and I hope everyone comes back next week to read more about the new adventures and ideas that my brain and heart develop!

Ready for the next level!

YES! Change.

THIS IS MY YEAR FOR CHANGE.

Many changes have already occurred but I am continuously evolving and moving on!

Therefore you will notice many new and exciting changes, I am happy and ready for them.

One huge new change that I was, "scared", to make in the past is language. Que? I usually post in English but I want everyone to learn and enjoy therefore from now on some post may be in completely in Spanish or  in both Spanish and English, what we her'in Texas like to call...Spanglish!

Also, I want everyone to know MORE about who I am. I am a Mexican-American Houston born Mom. I will soon have 2 children and am a working Mom. As you all may know, I am a University of Houston graduate and I am very proud to be a COUGAR! Ha. Not that kind of Cougar but rather a U OF H Cooooooooog!!!!!!! Whoooooose Houuuuuuse!??!!?!?!?!?! WHICH BY THE WAY....Despite the fact that we are in HOUSTON, and that this city is inundated with UT fans and colors, my husband (ALSO A U OF H Student) and I found ONE, ONE UH cooler at HEB AND a small section of UH memorabilia at Target. What does that mean? MOVE OVER ORANGE AND WHITE...THE RED AND WHITE will soon take over as it should have years ago! Ok. I'm done. Ha.

I am just ready for new and exciting things to come and I can't wait.

I want my Blog to be an Everyday Blog for Everyday Moms! Nothing fancy just ordinary talk from an ordinary Mom.

Have a great day all!
