I saw this illustration and it struck a chord....
As Women, we often fight so many battles, sometimes on our own, in complete silence, hidden away from the world....daily, hourly, minute by minute.
For me lately, they've been more internal than not. My brain never shuts off and my heart feels it.
Those battles, I feel, are the ones that cause the most bruising. We fight ourselves, beat ourselves up so hard about everything, even after it's been said and done, so much so that some of us feel we have to stay in fight mode.
Truth is we don't.
Being a Wonder Woman shouldn't cause so much pain.
The battle wounds shouldn't cut that deep... but they do.
Sometimes regardless of how well we think we hide the bruises and scars, people know.
People who know you can see them. They are more than visible, they are you.
The agonizing pain buried deep in your soul, the wiped away tears, the self-crushing doubt and attempts to cry out for help. We can see it in your eyes, your appearance, your energy.
In the end...
It's how you choose to recover that means the most.
It's how you move forward that helps us heal.
Knowing that you are not alone sometimes helps.
Knowing and allowing others to help is not a bad thing.
So....
Dear Wonder Woman,
Let down your guard, release the fight mode and heal.
It's time.
Allow space for love and joy, know that you are worthy. You are deserving.
Yes, you are a Wonder Woman who is loved and no longer has to hide the hurt or the scars and bruises of this life.
You are not alone.
It's time.
To continue to love yourself, be proud of it and move on.
It's time.
To let go. To live your life. And, be yourself.
Be the Wonder Woman that you are but know that your tribe is here for you and you can do this.
You are not perfect and that's OKAY.
It's time.
Love always,
Wonder Woman

::Powerful Women::
To be a powerful woman. A powerful Latina woman. What does that mean? What does that encompass? How did your strength grow? How do you become this woman? Oh, the questions are endless that I ask myself all the time, especially these days. What does that mean Connie?
....you've labeled yourself a Powerful Latina?
When you give yourself a label, you kind of have to live up to it right? Right? You have to own it. You have to embrace it and be confident in your walk.
For so many years I had no clue who I was, who I was becoming and who was being created inside of me. I didn't know of my sense of self and "power". I didn't know the depth of my heart and soul. The power that was being built. The confidence, and how intimidating it can be. I know many, many powerful women. I am surrounded by them daily. Most I am not intimidated by but I have great respect and admiration for them, I aspire to be more like them.
These days I know that...I am an intense person. I am a passionate person. I don't like the word no, I keep going once I've heard it. I know what I want and who I want in my life. I try to be assertive and make decision head-on. It has not come easy, my upbringing was hard. I didn't have the most smooth teenage years. I dealt with helping my parents with my three younger siblings, working many hours Senior year in High school to help pay for my graduation and enduring my parent's relationship issues. It wasn't until my early 20's that those things started to catch up with me.
Depression would loom but I tried to be the happy, go-lucky, goodie-goodie 20-something year old that everyone had known for years. Little did I know that at 37 those things would all catch up to me.
Both in a good and bad way. We cannot hide or run from those inner-"demons", we must confront them, beat them and overcome.
While I knew exactly what I had survived and how I made the absolute best of it all, I didn't realize how much growth and strength had also happened. I also went through this 19-year relationship (7 years of dating and 12 of marriage) which taught me SO much about my own drive, capabilities and again that strength that we all need to overcome struggles and obstacles.
I realize now how much I push others to reach their potential. How much I push myself to strive for bigger and better. It's draining and a lot of work. But, I did it, continue to and truly have no desire to change it. I want to be the best version of me that I can possibly be EVERY SINGLE DAY. Is that wrong? I don't know. But, I am also an idealist and dreamer, I see SO much potential in others, and expect them to have the same self-drive, motivation and passion that I have for myself. Is that wrong? I don't think so.
I didn't know being "powerful" came with a price. I didn't realize that I was outgrowing my partner and that I was no longer that 18-year-old girl who thought changing the world and making an impact was, in fact, possible but had NO clue what it meant or how or where to even begin. The impact has come in the form of living my journey and constantly sharing who I am. In the most real and raw form.
Unfiltered and direct.
The evolution of who we want to become sneaks up on us and is more clear sometimes to the outside world than ourselves. It's just a matter of gathering clarity and truly running with who you have become.By no means does this mean my life is perfect, especially not now, it's not. I still navigate through many feelings and problems daily. I just don't know how to give up, ever. And, won't.

::Transitions::
Transition: To transition, transform or metamorphous into a new place or space.
It’s where I’ve been for over a year, mentally. Physically the movement began, a little over 8 months ago. It’s a difficult place to be in when you truly have no clue where you’re heading. These have been some of the most difficult moments in my life to date but with time comes clarity.
As I continue to seek it.
With every push forward towards seeking your true self there comes a little defeat, disappointment, thoughtfulness, and reflection. But, not everything is lost. Along the way, you find new friends, a new sense of self and direction. You grow a little more with each experience and are reminded of your resilience.
It seems that every time I get overwhelmed I tend to retreat into my safe zone. But, I’m pretty sure that’s most people. That doesn't mean that that's where you belong. Because that's definitely not where growth happens.
Going back into my comfort zone and doing the thing that I love most and know well, writing and staying in this "safe" space. Comes easy to me. So, when things get overwhelming this is where I go. To my words. But, most growth has happened in my actions. I am just now ready and able to put it all into words.
And, it's kind of, a very freeing moment and movement if you will. To be less censored in what I can and how I say, or write about it. Divorce isn't an easy word to write, much less say. It's been a process and time has given me the words I need to move forward.
And, it's kind of, a very freeing moment and movement if you will. To be less censored in what I can and how I say, or write about it. Divorce isn't an easy word to write, much less say. It's been a process and time has given me the words I need to move forward.
It’s easy to be filled with self-doubt, fear, and defeat. And, sometimes it’s OKAY, to feel these feelings. Because they’re real. Because they happen. Because it’s life.
Things are not always going to be perfect. Don’t compare. Instead, look inward for direction. Purpose is fulfilled differently for everyone.
Things are not always going to be perfect. Don’t compare. Instead, look inward for direction. Purpose is fulfilled differently for everyone.
When you accept what this life has chosen for you to bare, that’s when you can turn your situation around. If you go back in history you will find clues that will confirm your purpose. I know I have. Sometimes the signs were there but I still moved forward. Without my 19 year relationship, I would not have the experiences I have now, or two children to help me become who I am today.
When you are called to seek a new path, it’s a testament to your purpose. Resilience & Courage. Be brave and move forward.
These are the words I keep telling myself. These are the words I want to write about. I want to talk about how much pain and guilt occurs when leaving a marriage is your choice. How I never meant to hurt my spouse. It was never my intention but it happened. I lived with the guilt for days on end. But, I've pushed forward and learned that it can't live in your heart because it's not a way of life.
Neither of us was perfect. Obviously. But, the choices I made were for me alone. And, these days, I am good with how it has all started to work out and "fall into place".
I also know, that my direction has changed, and that's OKAY too.
This is where my new chapter of life begins, the next 20 years of my life will be spent exploring more of who I want to be and how I want to continue to fulfill my purpose.

::Writing the Next Chapter in Life::
Sunset, Destin, Florida 2017
Not every story begins with a once upon a time or ends with a happily ever after... at least not in the way one might think. We all create the lives we want, based on the choices we make, our societal perceptions and truly the deck that life throws at you. I can't be upset about what someone else has that might be better than my situation, or circumstance. We all work hard to get to where we are, and if we don't put the work in and strive for better then, we remain. And, sometimes people are okay with this.
Growing up I knew that going to college, getting married, having a career and kids was the "right" way of doing things. Even though no one else in my family had really followed this path, I did it all in this exact order. Along the way, life has thrown SO many obstacles at us, as life would, but we worked hard and created the life we wanted and deserved. But, then again, we don't always control certain circumstances or life's events and things can change suddenly and drastically.
For years I've sought to figure out who I am. What I want and where I am going with this whole passion for writing and inspiring working moms deal. I've had my share of nay-sayers, people who didn't believe in me or what I was trying to achieve. For what, for who and why? In part because they didn't understand it, and honestly for a long time, I didn't either.
I've never given up though.
I've continued to build and grow my community of women, my tribe of Momma bosses, not truly knowing where I wanted to go with it. Do I know now? Probably not as clear as I would like. What I do know is that now my journey has created a new path. One where even though I might be judged and looked at like I've made the biggest mistake of my life, I can tell you that I've made the best choice for me. It's been a period of true transition for us here at Momma of Dos for a little over 9 months now. By us, I mean my children, myself and their dad. We now live in separate households and have created different routines and are continuously trying to establish a new normal for us all. A lot harder than one might imagine. All of this is new to us; the transition, the two homes, the arrangements and details of it all. Lots of sadness, confusion, pain and hurt.
But, I am not giving up now.....
This blog has chronicled MANY, many years of our lives together. Now, our lives are being lived on two separate paths. It's not been easy and there is so much more I will share as I can. I appreciate the love, support, and respect of those on my social media outlets, in our immediate circle, in our families and our friends. For obvious reasons, I have not been able to share, nor did I feel I had to, what was going on as openly as most would have liked but I feel we are getting to a place where I can be a little more open about it all.
Things are still a little difficult and details are still falling into place but we are all moving forward and trying to make sense of a hard situation.
Please note, I do not share this as a victim. I share this from a place where I have made decisions for myself that I felt were best for me moving forward. I could sit and share all the negative and bad of the last few months, but that's not my plan at all for this space.

::Building Your Blog Tribe:: Do's & Don'ts
{All pictures are from my Momma of Dos, blogging 101 class
last week... #BlogVisionTribe}
I've been blogging for nine years, like before it was "in" to blog, I blogged. It's a story I often tell in my Blogging 101 workshop. In
2008, I went from writing blogs on Myspace to Wordpress. Then in 2009, I moved
over to the Blogger platform. Momma of Dos has been around for some time. And it
always surprises me to think back and look at how far I have come. Some of the only reasons I have made it this
far are due to the guidance and friendships that I made early on in my blogging
career.
By 2014, my blogging journey took on a life of its own
called the Houston Latina Bloggers {HLB}. It was important to me to start building
a tribe and create a space where I could turn around and help new bloggers. My
goal was to provide all the resources that weren’t available in the blogging
space years ago and pass on the knowledge that I had gained. Co-founding HLB
was a labor of love and continues to be. The women who helped me shaped the
group into what it is today have played an integral part of the blogging
resources HLB is now able to offer its members. HLB could not have grown and
succeeded without the women who supported my efforts, offered their guidance,
and worked hard alongside me to get the group up and going. In 2015, we kicked
off an active group and created our own #LATINATRIBE.
The group continues to grow and evolve; and after nearly two
years of work, our vision is beginning to take shape. It has taken consistent
work, dedication, and time. As the group grows, our process takes on new shapes
and dynamics. New bloggers have new and innovative ideas which have brought HLB to the forefront of the blogging community. And through all the sacrifice and
difficulties, the rewards have been worth it.
In return, I have learned a lot. These days I share my
experiences with women who attend my Blogging 101 class.
Here are some things I have learned you should and shouldn't
do!
Do-
1) Provide Support & Guidance.
Sharing contacts, advice and giving likes and comments on
social media may all seem like common courtesy for a tribe who is also doing
the same for you. Right? Well, even if you don't receive the same amount of
support, you show your support anyway. Why? Because at the end of the day you
want to do all you can to help and know that you did your best. It's probably one of our biggest rules in the
group. It’s important. VERY.
You cannot be a taker and not give back. Or not give because
you fear others will take too much. It's life. Things aren't fair. I tend to
overshare but that's just me. You have to when you have years of knowledge. I must.
I was once a new blogger and had no clue what to do. If it weren't for ladies
like Alba of Independent Mami who ALWAYS offers great resources and is just a
giving person, I would not have made it in the blogging world.
Which at the end of the day is just as cut-throat as any
other business. **So don't be fooled. It is a serious income-providing business
for many. Competition is bound to happen.
You
just have to know when to give in.
2) Build a personal relationship with those in your tribe.
You cannot be in-it to win-it if you don't have close
personal friends in your tribe. Just like in life, you need the love and true
friendship of like-minded women, mommas, writers, creatives and entrepreneurs
who can have your back. The only way to know who does is by truly learning
about the women in your tribe-who they are, their families and what drives
them. This way you can form a true lasting connection or partnership with them.
3) Trust.
There are some levels of trust that need to be had when
dealing with new people. I understand we all have different life experiences
and our ability to trust is not as easy to some as it is to others. I trust too
much, too fast, sometimes. I trust based on feeling or vibe. With that said,
some people just click, or connect instantly and others may not. All is good
though, some instant connections might not be long-lasting and some that take
longer to connect, sometimes result in some of the best friendships or working
relationships. I think it's like this with life in general.
4) Give Credit where credit is due.
You didn't do this on your own; if you did, kudos but, more
than likely you didn't do this on your own. Had I not met certain bloggers
early on, I probably would not have made it. The set of bloggers that I met in
2012 at my first LATISM conference were pivotal. I will be forever grateful for
the role they have played in my journey. It is important to me to credit and
give shout-outs especially to those content creators who share this space with
me.
5) Be nice.
It's common courtesy, right? Being nice to people, although
we won't always agree or connect with everyone but being respectful of others,
their ideas and their content is just common sense. You don't want to burn
bridges at any point that might be helpful or a resource just because you don't
agree with others. I am not saying don't voice your opinion or be yourself.
Simply treat others how you would like to be treated. TRUST
me, I know it’s easier said than done. I am not perfect. I've rolled my eyes
when people start talking when I have strong conflicting feelings. You don't
have to get along with everyone in the blogosphere. That's normal. With that
said, just be a nice person and continuously courteous, simple rule.
And, in no way am I saying to be fake. If you do not agree
with a group or how they think and you don't think you ever will, well then
remove yourself from that situation. It's very easy. Much like in life, if it doesn’t grow you,
let it go.
Don't-
1) Make Assumptions.
Communicate. Communication is highly important with online
relationships. I would say if you don't understand something, or feel like
something needs to be cleared up, Speak up. I'm one who can personally say that
because I shut down, I have lost friendships over miscommunication. So, if you
have to call or meet in person to clear the air and talk things out, do it!
Don't assume that a certain tone or emotion is attached to words. Talk it out
and know if your feelings are being validated. Again, if the situation at the
end of the day is not what you expected, you have every right to walk away. but
give it a chance. I would suggest talking, listening, and communicating.
Again, if things are not clear, talk about it, with time and
patience.
2) Be overly-guarded of your space.
I get it. We all have insecurities and or a certain space
that we like to protect. But in this business, if you don't share and put
yourself out there, well then you won't grow. Most bloggers live and dream to
have exposure, to be well known, I know I do! That won't happen if you are
always in your own guarded and secret space. Some of us are super shy. Again,
that's life, you can't grow if you keep to yourself and never share. You must
let go of that guarded space and be yourself, people will love your open and
honest content.
3) Use People.
Of course, we all know this right. I know a lot of bloggers
in different groups complain about people who only come into their lives for a
connection or contact. And, I get it, it's not right. I think that as long as you give credit
and are respectful toward one another, sharing contacts and connections is
acceptable.
In HLB, we want all the bloggers to grow so sharing is encouraged
and applauded. I may not know all the ladies personally but we are part of the
same community and at the end of the day I want them to grow. Their success is
HLB’s success.
You don't want to be known as the person who never shares
other bloggers’ posts, or likes, or comments but comes to the party when
opportunities are being shared. It looks bad and although HLB doesn’t have a
set rule on this, we do encounter these situations sometimes. People get upset
and don’t want to share if they feel used. So show your tribe some love.
4) Be jealous- there’s enough to go around for everyone.
It's a natural thing to be jealous or have a feeling of
being left out of something if you share too much. Don't be. I know it might
not seem like it but trust that there is enough work for everyone. We are all
content creators but our styles, perspective and experiences are vastly
different. Don't worry about there not being enough opportunities. I've learned
that the more you stay in your lane and do your own thing, the more
opportunities will come your way.
Just trust me on this one. There is always enough. Don't
worry about everyone else and what they are doing. Focus on you and you will
not have time to look around and be jealous. No need. No time.
5) Be fake.
That's all. Don't. Be yourself. People can see straight
through you if you're fake. Plus, the things that aren't true and perfect about
you will come out when people see you in person and realize that your online
life is just a front. You don't want to ruin your brand like that. We are human
not perfect or picture ready 24/7. So be real guys.

::Midlife at 35:: Yep, a post about Menopause, before it happens....
::Momma Disclosure:: I was invited to attend IntersectionM/Mlive a midlife conference in exchange for this review, but all opinions and statements are true and my own!
Learn more about the creators of this event : https://intersection-m.com/the-story/
I know you hear it all the time, age is just a number. Well to me it truly is. At 35, I feel pretty awesome. To be alive and to be strong. To have endured lots and overcome even more. Am I thinking about what the future will be like as I age? Absolutely, I may be "young" now but that won't last forever. In my 20's I realized that I couldn't be scared of aging and what it would bring. After all my Momma who is now almost 60, was doing an amazing job, she remains active, goes out and has so much life in her. I want to be that way. How did I create this mindset and not be scared of the "M" word?
Menopause.
Well for one I surround myself with like-minded women, and last month I was invited to a great new conference that will help you discuss this and other woman issues. None to be scared of but to embrace.
::5 things I learned at the Midlife Conference here in Houston::
1) Resources are important: If you don't think this type of conference is for you then the least that you can do is collect resources. Even at 35 I feel that having the information I need now, for when I need it in a few years is great. Being informed helps you deal with the issues at hand a lot easier than when it's just a shot in the dark or unknown. Can we agree on that? At minimum be informed about what goes on as you age, about how much we should do for ourselves and what will happen to our bodies and mind, if we don't take care of them. Simple rule I think, be informed.
2) Like-Minded Women of every age: If you know me then you know, I am not one to create a tight circle of women and never look outside that group. I do love having close friends who are my age and relateable. But, trust me the older I get the more I know that having friends in every age group, younger than me, my age and older than me is important. Why? Well, number one you stay relevant and in-the-know of what's new, and secondly, you can see how other women handled aging and what you can do to help you reach those different milestones with grace and strength! I also have friends who are single and don't have kids, because I then live vicariously through them. HA.
3) So much has evolved: One of the things that sticks in my mind is that things have truly changed, times have changed. And, I'm sure that your Momma's advice is not the same advice you'll give to your daughter. This day in age things evolve in a matter of minutes! If you are an iPhone carrier then you know, things change quick. I loved that the conference brought to light new technology that even I at 35 had NO clue existed, mostly in female cosmetic surgery. It truly amazed me and left me wondering how or if I could use some of those services as I start to leave my childbearing years behind. This type of surgery as described to me in one sentence.... "you will live your life to a whole new level." I loved that. Having kids and other minor female complications have left me, well, worn out to say the least! I look forward to helping my body out in years to come!
4) Don't be scared, it's life: One of the fantastic speakers was Dr. Gayle, the Spunky Old Broad, when I tell you that she lives up to that title, well you'd have to meet her but she does!!! She is 79, works out 2 hours a DAY and has lived through so much. But, she has no fear, she chooses life. She is happy, positive and focused on life. That's what I aim to be. When I was younger, sure I was scared about "getting old", but now I've lived through so much myself that aging, menopause and any other milestone that comes with time, it's doesn't scare me. I want to be prepared and ready for what's to come. So, I do what I have to do; I exercise, eat right, take mental-health breaks, focus on me, enjoy my family and do all those things that self-help coaches recommend. Cause life is too short not to.
5) Embrace the age and LOVE it: I know, it's easier said than done. And, everyone's circumstances are different. But, I love where I am right now in life, at 35, a Latina Professional, Momma of Dos and with a great very supportive spouse and family. I think that it's important to take into consideration, like all things in life, that the good does outweigh the bad. For me I embrace my age and where I am. I had a long 10 years in my 20's that I don't wish to re-live, but I also had amazing moments from 28-30 when I had my children and grew so much as a person, wife, momma, daughter, etc. So for me as I begin to exit my 30's, at almost 36, I look forward to finishing off this decade with a bang! And, I know SO many amazing 40-something-year-old's that I know I have LOTS to look forward to!
With that said! I can't wait until next year and another conference filled with great content and connect with new women!! Learn more about the creators of this event : https://intersection-m.com/the-story/

::3 Things I've Learned Since Becoming a Mom to Three:: Guest Blogger
Today on the blog we have one of my favorite Guest Bloggers, Bailey of Everyday with Bay! Enjoy.

So 3's a crowd huh? Or at least 3 kids is to most people! I just don't get it. Nor do I want to! The way most people have a negative outlook on families with 3 kids is something that has frustrated me for awhile now! I can't tell you how many people told us to stop when we had "the perfect family" with one boy & one girl! I get it, that may be perfect for some but that wasn't perfect for us and that's okay! My 3 kids are my world and I think it's so crucial to do what you feel is best for you & your family! I've always wanted 4 babies and some part of me still does, but my hubs does not so we have 3 and whatever happens I was made to be the mama of these 3 babes!

::Change:: #ThursdayThoughts
Thinking about life and the future, allows me to be open to change.
This year my life was centered around "focus". Focusing on my career. Focusing on life. Focusing on local opportunities. I feel I did well. I have done well. I have come a long way in 2015. We have exactly 2 1/2 months left and for some reason the word "Change", is stuck in my head. I am sure I have experienced it before and I have talked about it in the past. But, today it just feels like it has a whole new meaning.
Not sure yet what the meaning is, or where it will lead but I feel that the focus has given me a new season of change. We have good things going on in our home. My Hubby is doing well at work. My kids are happy and healthy, school eh, that's a whole other post. The struggles are real, I say this often but thankfully, "the struggles" are not so bad. We manage. We make it through them. We survive. Things could be worse but they are not.
Things could be better, this I know.
This morning I was listening to Jotina Buck on Periscope, if you don't know her...trust me. You should follow her. Her #Periscope topic was; "There are no shortcuts." during the broadcast someone posted, "there is a blessing in the wait." All of it touch my heart and woke my soul up! It's true. Our society has become so accustomed to having everything at our finger tips and at the touch of a screen. Truth is, that in this life there are no shortcuts. We must work hard, daily, through our struggles, pains and woes to make it.
I don't feel there is anything wrong with this. I thrive in the moments of struggle. I always have. For a moment, I might feel as if my ship is sinking but survival mode kicks in. And, even if I have to take the long route out of the problem, I always make it out alive. Not by taking shortcuts but by living and embracing the change. Right now, I feel that things are at a calm stand-still but I invite change into my life and stare it straight in the face. Ready. Prepared. To take the long route and not worry about where the shortcuts might lead me. I don't want the easy way out, ever.
I want to take the route that will lead me to victory through strength, growth and life long learning. I have had countless moment in my life when I have had to wait. Where I have had to struggle. It has been painful. I have had moments, I didn't think I would make it out alive, but I have. It's in those moments that I have been most alive, most aware and that I have grown and learned the most about myself and about life.
As the years go by and the time progresses, these moments become easier to face. I don't know what change you are going through right now, but don't feel pressured to use the easy way out. Know that the situation will pass, and you will grow from it. Have faith in your true abilities. Always let your light shine!

::Explore Houston:: Hiking Trails
Last year we took a couple of road trips with the kids, we have grown to love these. The adventures are endless and the memories, forever priceless. One of our trips was a camping trip to Gardner State Park and the other was a weekend in San Antonio.
On these adventures we discovered, that my kids loved the outdoors, maps { cause it reminds them of Dora, GRACIAS DORA!} and trails! My Husband and I in an effort to keep this alive and thriving decided that we would find local Houston parks and trails to explore. There.are.so.many.
A couple of months ago the weather was amazing, nothing like this week where the rain just won't leave us alone. In those gorgeous days we ventured out. Today, I will show you a little from our first Houston trail adventure as well as, share a little information about the park. If you are local or visiting, I highly suggest exploring the nature in our city, it's amazing ya'll.
The peace and family bonding it great too.
The park is so BIG, it will take you at least 2-3 hours to explore it very well. We took a 4 hour hike that day, the kids slept all the way home. It has trails and interesting areas that will make you forget you live near the city. The park trails do cross under the freeway and intersect with high volume streets, but trust me, you will not even notice it. We went out on a Saturday afternoon. The bikers were in full gear so just stay clear of them and beware of there warnings "ON THE LEFT". Is their usual sign of, here I come, MOVE.
While you learn the park lingo, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery.
We parked at Memorial near Eldridge. And, on this afternoon we had a small picnic when we reached the reservoir at I10 & Eldridge. So, the walk is about 20 minutes out, we then climbed up the edge of the reservoir and collected rocks. Then back down to the trails and into the park area with the playground. Where my daughter randomly yelled out a cuss word and we decided it was time to go. Have I mentioned I have wild children? I do. You would think they grew up on a farm with no humans.
Usually randomness completes our adventures. The park is filled with great picture op areas, as a Momma who always carries a camera this is an amazing place!
I highly recommend Terry Hersey, you can explore it and find a new spot every time. It might take hours, maybe even days, to complete it's trails. We have been back a couple of times since, for pictures and picnics.
You can follow our adventures daily on Instagram.
Follow our Park series, by coming back next week and looking for a new post!

Inner Peace I want that....
We all have difficult times in our lives when all we want is peace. These days, I truly don't have many difficulties in my life and most are just a matter of my own perspective. NO my life is not perfect, I just don't allow too much to get to me anymore.
The year is quickly coming to an end and it's that time again to revisit, "New Years Resolutions" which from now on I will be calling... "Life Goals"! Don't really care what year it is anymore... I just want to do more, be me and live my life to the fullest!
I wrote about them here last year and I chose my focus word to be PEACE. And, while I have gained peace in so many areas of my life... worries, weight and with my family... I started to lack it and my motivation in my 8 to 5:00 p.m. job. Which I never really write about for personal reason. But, yes. I had recently lost motivation and purpose in my position, But, through speaking to an old co-worker now Momma/Faith friend and to a new connection from Blogalicious, who happens to be a magnificent life/career Coach, Boni. I was able to find some clarity. Some light and thoughts into my situation. All very very very helpful!
Inner peace. I want that. It's all I have been thinking about since speaking with these two ladies!
I know it will not be an easy process but I will take it one day at a time. One peaceful affirmation at a time and just continue to grow and learn from my experience. I will take small steps everyday to reach my goals and be better from the inside out. I deserve it and so does my family.
If you are Instagram follow me, I also started a 30 days of affirmations challenge!

:: 5 Lessons I want my kids to learn from Traveling::
::Life is too Short::
Life is too short, we work so hard everyday, it is only fair to as they say....play hard as well! I want my children to enjoy their childhood, so many children don't get to experience this. It's a difficult world and there are some things that I want to make easy for my kids. Having fun and laughing together is so important. There is also the balance of not spoiling them or giving them everything they want. It will be a challenge I am sure. I want them to appreciate us as parents, the world as a whole and the fact that not everything comes easy.
::Wisdom/Acceptance::
Learning cultures, languages and life in other places of the world is something that I am very happy to have learned about growing up. You will be surprised the ignorance in our world and how much people don't know about other cultures, ways of life or parts of the world. I want my children to rise above that and know that the world is filled with differences that should be learned about, acknowledged and at times simply accepted. I don't want my children to be blinded or sheltered from reality. The world is what it is.
::To Explore/Discover::
The best way for my children to gain real life experience and to grow as tiny individuals is by allowing them to explore and discover! What better way then for them to discover, than to travel and introduce them to new places, new life, new culture. Their little brains are developing and taking it all in, such an amazing time to teach and fill not only their minds but hearts, spirits and souls as well.
::Try new things::
My Hubby and I will always willing to try something at least once; new food, new activity, new adventures... we want our children to be the same; adventurous, easy going and to live life to the fullest. For me the only way to do this is to step outside of your comfort zone and do just one thing that you wouldn't do daily. Life becomes so routine it's easy to get stuck in doing the same thing day in and day out, instead I want us to do new things that will bring our family closer and help us learn more about one another and our surroundings.
::Family Travel {& Time} is Important::
My Husband traveled as a children with his parents, mostly to Mexico but all he knows is it was the best memories he has of his family and his childhood. For me, I like to say that my parents were nomads, we traveled to live in almost every major city in Texas. Dallas, Houston and "the Valley" or South Texas. We also lived in Detroit, Michigan and traveled many years to and from Detroit to Texas. We also visited family in several areas of Mexico. Again, those are some of the best memories I have from my childhood. My parents and siblings together as a unit. And, it's what I want for my children.
What about you, how do you help your children learn more about the world around us?

::Camping:: 5 Lessons I Hope my Children Learned...
For months now we have been preparing and planning our very first camping trip to Garner State Park since we had our children. This past weekend the camping trip happened. While it was about relaxing, getting away and enjoying the down time; it also served as the perfect moment to reflect.
I learned that my children are so adaptable and that they don't mind working. The helped build tents, prepare camp fires and packed snacks for our afternoon hike. They were motivated, determined and enthusiastic about all the experiences we were living; some traits that I feel will be useful in their early adulthood and life in general.

They were motivated, determined and enthusiastic about all the experiences we were living; some traits that I feel will be useful in their early adulthood and life in general.
A few things that I hope they learn and carry with them not only now but throughout their life are the following:
:: Never Give Up :: Things in life don't always go as planned. I hope they can always see the positive side and know that they should never give up; no matter how difficult the path maybe. They should always strive to reach their goals, to make it to the top and be the best they can be.
It can be done...

:: Be Fearless :: I am a big wuss. At 33 I fear a lot mostly because I know the dangers and consequences of most actions. As for my kids, I want them to be fearless. I want them to know the danger and consequences that surround them but at the same time I don't want that to stop them from being who they want to be. I don't want them to be afraid of setting big goals or having even bigger dreams. I want them to know that they can reach any goal and attain all of their dreams.
As they did this weekend.
As they did this weekend.
:: Technology isn't everything :: Yes. I said it. While camping we did minimal technology. I posted several pictures on Instagram but that was the extent of Social Media and technology that I did. My kids had their iPads for the trip but at times, all of that became obsolete as we were too busy enjoying our surroundings and more importantly our company.
Life is ultimately about connecting in-person and with nature, it allows us to reflect not only on the creations the universe has given us but also the blessings that life has bestowed upon us as the years go by.

:: The Stars are Beautiful :: When we were camping the sky seemed so close and the stars were so bright. Lighting our night and giving us peace. It was amazing. My kids loved looking for the moon and staring at the stars.
Life is too short and the sky should be enjoyed.
Life is too short and the sky should be enjoyed.
:: Enjoy Life :: Not everything should be about work. Taking a break and enjoying life when possible is such a a great blessing. I want my kids to know that while we should work hard to reach our goals, we should also reap the benefits of our hard work and enjoy life, travel and have fun!
Learning about everything and everyone around us.
Learning about everything and everyone around us.
One question that we kept asking our kids while on our trip was; "What is your favorite part of our camping trip so far?" And, both of them answered things that we wouldn't usually do like; "climbing the rocks and big dinosaur mountains." Or "roasting marshmallows and making S'mores on the fire."
As a Momma, this makes my heart happy on so many levels. It makes me feel as if I have somehow accomplished my goal of creating lasting, happy memories that my children will remember for times to come.
What are some lessons you hope your children learn from their experiences as they grow?

::Friday Letters:: ....with a little rant... kinda..sorta
Dear Friday,
Do you know that it's October 3rd? Let me say that again. OCTOBER 3rd, where in the heck did the last 9 months go?!?!?!? No really, this is a joke right. OCTOBER. Only 3 months for 2015 to be here? I am not ready for this.
Sincerely,
Emotionally Freaking Out!
Dear Friday,
I am beat. No really like to the ground. I need to find time, organization and did I mention time? Maybe finding my mind and some sanity would be good too. Our little family is so busy, every week that my time just never seems to be enough. Note to self: taking things off my plate should not be followed by adding bigger more difficult things to my life! Ahii.
Thanks for not having my back Friday! You owe me some major amount of margaritas!
Dear Friday,
Ignore my rants the lack of sleep is causing a total meltdown and I am really OK, I just need a nap. NO really, I am fine. ::hi, my name is Connie and sleep is for weak.::
#teamnosleep
Dear Life,
Thank you for the last 9 months, you have no idea the amount of people of I have invested in who in return have inspired and motivated me to this very place and moment. I think that I have propelled into a very good place and I am happy. I am blessed. A little tired and out of my mind but in a good place to start over and begin the bigger journey. My true purpose. To follow my passion and see my goals through.
Thankfully yours,
This Momma
Dear Life,
Have I thanked you for my little family yet? I do this Monday thru Thursday and the weekends too. And, yes, my kids are a lot nutty but they are the cutest little brown people I have ever met. My son has perfected his Mexican grito every time a corrido, tejano song or ranchera comes on the radio, it's amazing really. Camila will cuss randomly but is such an angel and can recite her Bible School versus perfectly. :: Please don't judge she is 3 1/2 and learning:: My kids are human and our lives are real. We are not perfect and we do make mistakes and are learning everyday..but that doesn't mean that I will ever force my family to be something we are not. We do have faults and we also have hopes and faith. I do believe in creating respectful and responsible law abiding citizens in our home but I don't believe in being fake or being what others think we should be. So, my children are who they are... and every day that is acceptable to me.
Thank you for teaching me everyday a new lesson in life,
Momma of Dos

Case of the Mondays ::Back to School Edition::
Today was the first day of school for many!
While my children are not in public school, which for this Momma is santiy on this very unexpectly emotional Monday morning, they still had exciting changes today. My little man started Pre-School in daycare, he is officially in the "big kids class". My little Mama started in the 3/4 year olds class she was in the 2/3 year old class until now.
I didn't think I would be emotional but here is the thing, for the last year and half Camila and Santiago have been in the same group of toddlers and their days were pretty much on the same schedule. With Santi moving to the Pre-K class he will no longer have lunch or recess with my baby! They will both have to depend on their own strengths and courage to go through the day without one another. Santi is a very big brother who loves and protects his Sister when he isn't trying to get her out of his face.
I think this will serve as an experience of growth and appreciation for one another. I hope. My Hubby and I have given them both very firm and supportive talks about starting this new stage of their lives and I hope that they will not only make brave decisions but also stand up for themselves and be strong in their beliefs. A bit much for a 3 and almost 5 year old? Maybe but my Hubby and I are both the eldest in our families and we have learned from struggles and mishaps and know the direction in which we wish to shape our children's independence as well as their courage and bravery.
This world, no matter what age can be cruel and while we are teaching them to see the good in everyone and everything we also don't want them to grow up close-minded or naive to the harms of the outside world. I know that may sound a bit intense but until now our children have developed very unique personalities and they are never afraid to be themselves. I want that to continue.

::8 Years and Counting:: A Marriage Reflection
For many of you who know us, you should know that Ricardo and I have grown-up together. We were teens when we met. 15 years later and after 8 years of marriage, 2 toddlers, and a lots of good and bad we are still here. Together. In love. In our own way. My Hubby is not your typical romantic who remembers the small things the way I do. For a long time, I really disliked him for it. But, then I slowly began to realize who he is...
He is above all a thoughtful and determined provider for his family, organized and mindful of what we can and cannot afford.
He is a happy father who LOVES his children unconditionally.
He loves me and cares for me.
He tries every day to be better person.
He brings me flowers when I am mad. It counts. A lot.
He accepts me and my crazy ideas but he doesn't always agree with me.
He is my Husband, a Father, a Brother, a Son, a Brother-in-Law and a Son-in-Law as well as a friend to many.
He is an intelligent man with his own plan, trying to focus on his goals.
He is the love of my life. My one and only. My always and forever. NO matter how much we argue and say things...we are still together. Making it through the struggles of everyday.
Marriage is not easy. Living with another person for years and years is not easy. It's work. Everyday a new day. Everyday a new challenge. We work at our marriage, some days are good, some are bad and others are great. On the worse days we give each other space, we hear each other out but we never run away.
Marriage has been a blessing, a life changing experience and a life time commitment. I don't plan on giving up and I am sure and blessed that he will not give up either.
People will see us and judge us, as individuals for what we are not or what we don't do, or what we lack or what they think we are. But, in the end Him and I know each other, what we have been through and where we are going. Nothing else matters. Ever.
The goal is to make it and make it good. Our vision are two children. They will see us, they will follow us, they will know what and who we are, they are watching us and for them, we will do our best to be great. For them, for us and for each other as individuals.
I say it all the time. Our lives are not perfect, nor do we claim it or pretend to be that way. Our lives are together and together we make it work. Some days we are happy, others we are sad and some days we are very, very mad but always together.
We try every day to make the best of what we have. We don’t have it all. We might not have the best but we have love…every day.
Ricardo, I love you. I don’t tell you enough how much I appreciate you and admire you, for your strength, your courage and your determination. I love you…..until death do us part. Happy 8th year wedding anniversary, and happy 15 year anniversary of being together.
