{Sam Moon} The Accessory Post & Giveaway!

So, I attended the LATISM Conference last week!! Still in disbelief...it was a true Blessing! It was awesome, see for yourself...HERE AND HERE!

One dilemma that I had was dress code. Being a "Rookie Conference attendant"... I didn't know what, where, who and when...I ended up asking my awesome Bloggy  Momma friend from Vegas over at ::DESUMAMA:: Vane, how formal she thought I should be...she said one thing that stuck in my mind the whole time...."be comfortable but with style"... and once I got her message she made me  feel a lot more at ease as I picked out what I would wear....none of which really came through in my pictures...but oh well!  Ha. I digress.

Moving on..Ha. I used to get all my accessories at New York & Company. These days this Momma is on a budget.....So, I explore and I find...

I have been to Sam Moon here in Houston many a times but never realized how cheap and CUTE everything is!

Last week for the conference, I needed a little updated, more modern, very ME kind of look. So, I resorted to accessories. I had been here before and then stumbled upon some new favs. Now it's totally going to be my store...

The Pink card holder was a hard case wallet organizer thingy $8.00 but I pulled out the accrodian like inside and used it to hold my cards..which I gave out for the first time at the conferece! Ha.

The skulls, I totally fell in LOVE with all under $4.00!!! The leaf, reminded me of Hunger Games..not my fave movie but it was super cute! I don't think I spent more than 20 bucks! It was a stylish steal, I think! Ha.

And, since I have finally made it to the Post-Office and everything I had to mail has been mailed ::insert excitement here:: then I can do this....::insert the price is right game show music here::  Bloggy Reader COME ON DOWN!!!! I will be selecting a winner for the Black Skull necklace shown above and below..Ha.... to enter leave a comment below with your name and your blog {if you have one} and tell us HOW MUCH YOU THINK IT WAS!!!! Simple!? Sure!!! I will announce a winner next week... you have until noon tomorrow {Saturday; November 3rd, 2012} to enter! If you for some reason can't leave a message below then do so on the post about this Giveaway on my FB page. Tell your friends!

Have fun...and GOOD LUCK!!!

Have a GREAT weekend ya'll!!!

{Dia de Los Muertos} Culture Experience

When I was younger I remember building an altar around the tombs of our family members who were no longer with us. We would lay out picture of us with them and their favorite foods in their honor. Our belief was that on the Day of the Dead, their souls would come back to be amongst us and to enjoy our offerings. We would gather late at night and say a rosary in their remembrance, bring them flowers and celebrate their lives as we remembered them here on earth.

As a young child or teen I didn't think anything of it and wasn't even scared to participate in this late night stroll through the rundown cemeteries in Reynosa.  It wasn't just a tradition, it was part of our everyday. My Grandfather always says.... "no le tengas miedo a los muertos, te le mas miedo a los vivos...."

It's these small memories that make me who I am....it's these small memories that I want to pass on to my children... but like most people I am a visual person and I have a feeling my kids will be like that as well. Which is why I want to every year build on what they see and experience. If we can't go to Mexico then I want to bring Mexico to them. Huge? No, just some effort! I realize that the only way that our culture will not be lost in their generation is by making these small connections to big traditions.

This year I decided that we would start our Holiday's off by learning what a Dia de los Muertos altar was. So, I took my kids to see the beautiful exhibits over at Meca, here in Houston. It was small step for this Momma pero un paso mas hace nuestras tradiciones.

We had fun! See for yourself.....

{The Beautiful young lady in the picture was my lovely assistant for the day...her name is Erica and she is my Hubby's cousin. I love familia!}

{My AWeSoMe Post} :)

One day I will be an awesome Blogger with awesome post about my awesome life... or something like that.... You know the kind that updates her Blog regularly with awesome pictures and cool how-to's with the kids, with post about trips to the city zoo and vacations with the family to some awesome place...Yeah that will be me one day..in the mean time... here I am.. the almost every day 8 to 5 worker some days 6 to midnight... no I am not a doctor, or a nurse or some really awesome Blogger, just an Election worker. And this is my life.

I don't like lacking awesome-ness! I want to be AWESOME, really I do. But, I fail. Really bad sometimes. But, I survive! I have worked a total of 49.7 hours this week alone and it's not even Friday yet! Yes. That's the kind of job I have. But enough about work...back to being awesome!

I have these really AWESOME kids who I will soon {hopefully}, really soon get to spend more time with! I want us to do stuff and plan fun {and yes AWESOME} activities to catch up on what has or has not been a Summer for us!

I have this really AWESOME Hubby who has been EVER SO supportive of my crazy work schedule and antics over why his shoes are in the middle of the hall and the kids are playing with every.single.toy.possible.all.at.the.same.time. No seriously. And where did all these toys come from to begin with! They have no concept of space is all I know. The toys, obviously! But, he is really AWESOME. While he sleeps I am on my way home and I  leave before he wakes...and still he loves me. And I love him. In a very awesome way. Just sayin'.

Are you tired of the word AWESOME, I am loving it. More and more as we go! July was crazy, I mean...awesomely busy! I am ready for August but more so ready to rest....

August is filled with birthday parties, anniversaries, trips and life as usual... hopefully a little more Blogging...about...awesome stuff and yes being awesome in general.

Ha.
