{Inspired} Momma with a Mission

Have you ever had to write about yourself?

BELLASHEART

As easy as it sounds, it’s not very easy.  I know once I get started, I won’t be able to stop but it’s always the getting started part that gets me stuck! Bare with me as I spill my heart out and let you in on what I’m all about. So… Hi there! I’m Darlene. I was born on Groundhog’s Day back in 1986, which makes me 27-and a half years old. Born and raised in Southern California and still here… (writers block occurring, uh-oh…)

Okay, so… What else? Well… I’m a lot of things so I’ll start with my most important and go from there. As corny as this sounds, I was able to marry my best friend from high school. It’s definitely been a blessing because I always thought I’d be the type to never get married or have kids. I envisioned myself as being this extremely successful, independent woman that didn’t have to worry about anyone else but herself. And then, just like that… BOOM!

I fell in love! Hahaha.

Totally turned my life around.

I always tell Alex, he was the only exception. He was the only guy I would instantly dismiss my selfish dreams for without a thought. And, I’m very glad I did because there’s no one out there that could fill his spot. No one. We had been friends all through out high school and I would tell him about my boyfriends, he’d tell me about his girlfriends, we’d talk about our problems, complain about homework, talk all night long about serious stuff and just all the other things you talk about with your best friend. But, what really drew us closer was all that we shared in common, which was our taste in music and humor. I knew I was crazy about him a year before we ever stepped beyond friendship, but he had his own thing going on at the moment and I wasn't going to dare tell him I liked him until it was the right time. Low and behold, our Senior year was approaching it's end, we were talking on the phone while we played our latest downloaded playlist, which happened to be a mix of R&B Slow jams, mainly lovey-dovey music (all obvious! lol).

Suddenly, the entire mood totally changed and I could sense the conversation was steering somewhere new for us. We finally mustered up the courage to tell each other how we felt over AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). I remember sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for him to respond. Hahaha. From that moment on, we were crazy about each other, inseparable, head over heels in love… Everything moved fast, we told each other we loved one another the night we shared our first kiss, we got to experience our Senor Prom together and enjoyed life after high school, going out, exploring our independence, living together, going to college, turning life into adventures… and then the biggest adventure approached us~ Parenthood! BOOM! (There goes that boom again.

This time it was an extremely exciting boom! The day I found out I was pregnant, it was like a light switch turned on in my heart that I had never turned on before. It was a very exciting day filled with nervous jitters and happiness.

We were way into it. Each week we’d read up on our daughter’s developmental stage and what was forming than. Month-by-month, we’d take pictures and get more excited as the bump grew, started prepping our home for our baby girl that was soon to arrive. Life was going perfect for us...

Or so we thought, with our naive sense, we never even thought about complications being a possibility, so you know what was coming next… BOOM! BOOM!! BOOM!!!

Emergency C-Section, overly tensed nerves and 100% pure fright, and then life at that particular moment really threw us a curve-ball. More like, a curve-ball that went too curvy and ended up hitting us. And now this time, the BOOM hit us where it would leave us, in pain and forever sore.

Our lives would forever change.

{DreamTree} ♥

DreamTree_Logo

Why hello lovelies! My name is Casey, and I am a local Houston photographer trying to make it in this crazy business!  I got started like many other photographers… at the beginning of my SAHM journey when I was a tender 24 years old.  I had a cheap camera, didn’t know much about it, woke up one day, and decided to go to art school.  Ha!  I soon found myself interning with The Houston Ballet, and working with some pretty amazing people in and around the Houston area.  I am now less than a week away from turning the big two-seven, with not only one but two beautiful blessings- Aislynn (6 years old) and Anabella (6 months old).  Together, they motivate my everyday, and inspire me to be a better…well, me.

casey2013blog

I’ve always had a passion for arts… When I was in elementary school, I was obsessed with the design and organization of my bedroom.  Six months wouldn’t go by without me redecorating and rearranging furniture.   By the time I was in middle school, I was in the school band, and music quickly became my muse.  Come high school, I danced and shimmied on stage to choreographed music.  And in college, I learned and finally embraced the fact that it’s okay to not “fit in” or be apart of the “in crowd”.  Art has always been apart of my life, and I hadn’t realized how much of an impact it made on my life until I picked up a camera and began snapping away!

A little bit about my business:

The name, “DreamTree” encompasses the meaning of a dream… the roots of the tree, and the branches of hope… growing and blossoming into beautiful stories!  This too, has encompassed the journey of my own business.  When I first started out, I was all over the place… I hadn’t found my niche.  After photographing any and every opportunity that came at me, today, I can finally say I know exactly where I want DreamTree to go.  Over the past 6 months, my brand and style have taken on a new look and feel… one that I feel conveys the message behind DreamTree.

DreamTree_2013

I have had the pleasure of photographing some pretty ah-mazing people with beautiful stories to share and incredible hearts just bursting with pure LOVE!  Many clients have become wonderful and close friends, and each client has been a blessing!  I love being apart of something so very special!

Please, feel free to take a look around my website and blog.  I’d love to meet you and your family, to get to know your dreams, and to help document some of the most precious and memorable moments in your lives!

{As a special thanks to Momma of Dos for having me as a guest on her oh so fab blog, with the mention of this post, receive 10% OFF your session.  Not a fan on Facebook? {Hold Me Still} #motivation #inspiration #latism #foreverjones

Why am I so invested in this whole blog thing?

Some days I don't even know what to write about! Most days I don't have super great pictures to go along with my words... other days... the words are just there... I never really know my reach or my impact... ahiii Connie so horribly "blah",  I know! Ha. Trust me I know EVERYTHING takes time and I am a very impatient person... but I think this whole Blogger Conference has me thinking. This whole Stay-@-Home-Momma thing, has me thinking.

Some days are good and others not.so.much. I need to not over think and relax. Some days it's hard... not to Over.think and to just relax.

I am working on my inspiration and motivation of words, space and life...

What should I write? How should I write? Where is this all going to lead me to? Who knows.

In the mean time...I keep busy and try not to seem so lost...if this is what I prayed for..why is it becoming so difficult.

I know I am Blessed...but I am still seeking and these feelings of "what-if" and doubt are stirring in my heart!

It's difficult.

But, I move forward!

Then I pray. I hear and I listen.

Dear Lord Hold Me Still...

And, He says to me;

Fill every, EVERY corner of your heart with Faith and Hope. Faith that I am here RIGHT NOW. Hope that I KNOW where I am leading you. I know it's hard to see right now. I know it's hard to envision it. And, I KNOW it's hard to stand right now but TRUST me, you and I have made the right choice. I know where I want you to go I know where I want you to be. I am holding you still... have peace. Be patient. Have faith...that I am holding you still...

"DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOUR FUTURE DAUGHTER.....so I won't magnify the small things... I WILL ONLY GLORIFY THE FATHER...."

The perfect moment....

Be still...

God is here.

Also, tomorrow... is the beginning of the LATISM BLOGGER CONFERENCE here in Houston! I am praying that my business cards come in and that God can give me grace to do everything that is asked of me, to meet expectations and to learn everything that is afforded to me! I am very excited! And I can't wait to see what is in store for this Momma....

{SAHMomma} Updates & WhatNot #latism

Yes, I know.

It's only been 2 weeks...already you have updates?! Ha.

Well I do. That and reflections.

I am searching. For a schedule. For a plan. For a niche. Trust me. This is serious.

When I made the decision to stay home I thought this would all fill itself in and while becoming a Stay-at-Home-Momma has been my dream and a Blessing, that doesn't mean I had all the answers or plans. I firmly believe that I am here for a good reason and purpose. Soon enough it will come, for now my everyday reason and purpose are two smiley faces that wake up say good morning, pee on the potty and brush their teeth. Not enough? Trust me. More than enough! I love it. It's been great! I am happy.

About the shakes and dizziness. I am waiting for my Hubby's insurance to kick in so I can go back to my specialist. I have pending blood work results and I am still not feeling 100%, I noticed more so this week when I had coffee..I am thinking caffeine is my new enemy. We shall see.

About Cami and how much fun she is. See for yourself. She is one walking, talking, cup of sugar and LOTS OF SPICE! Lots! She is sometimes kooky and cheesy and other times needy and lovey-dovey! As for my Santi, he is awesome everyday becoming more of a helper and little gentleman to his Sister...when he is not pushing her and taking her toys! They are so close though and have so much love for one another, it's amazing! They are MY kids!

About not working. I feel awful. It feels like the vacation should be over. I don't want to wake up and I may ask a stranger to pinch me just to make sure I am not dreaming. I am Blessed. It's definitely bitter-sweet! I would have somehow been a part of maybe the 2nd biggest Election in History instead I am home being a Mommy and I secretly Love it. I don't want to feel regret or guilt. But, SOMETIMES it's inevitable. Being a part of something BIGGER sometimes means being at Home and Being who God wants me to be... I have faith and I trust... I am exactly where He wants me to be.

{LATISM'12} #latism#LATISM'12

I couldn't wait to post this and finally give you some more awesome news coming to this Blog.... this Momma is going to her FIRST ever, BLOGGER CONFERENCE

Yes. It will be here in Houston and the opportunity is more than amazing.

As a Mexican-American female I believe in empowerment and growth. When I became a Blogger in 2008, I didn't realize the kind of community that it was. I was simply doing it to practice my writing and alleviate some boredom at work. Once I had children and realized how important media, social networks and the use of written {typed} words to encourage, build and learn were to Stay@HomeMommas; I knew that I wanted to do more than just be a Bloggy-Momma. I wanted to one day make a real difference in my community and among my Momma peers.

I know that I have stated this before. I graduated from the University of Houston in 2005 {GO COOGS!} and expected MORE. The truth, que los dichos son ciertos...uno nunca acaba de aprender. After a formal education comes the education of life and with that comes effort. An effort to be, to change and to MOVE. I know that in order for my words written {or typed} to become actions I have to make an effort to learn more than school and life has already taught me and to continue to grow as a Latina. I am very proud of who I am, where I came from and the accomplishments made as a Momma and Wife. But, I also know that in order to make a true difference outside of my home and not just with my immediate peers I must make the effort to MOVE and get out there and learn what this world as a whole has to offer. Because at the end of the day....actions really do speak louder than words....
{::STEPS OFF SOAP BOX::}Ha.

Which is why I am so happy and over-joyed to be attending the LATISM'12 Conference!

I hope to learn not just how to reach out to a bigger audience in a more effective and efficient manner but also what I can do to help educate my little family about what we need to do to ensure a prosperous future.

I am so Blessed to be in this place right now and to be able to attend this conference. I can't wait and I hope to see some of my fellow Bloggers there! This will be such a great experience!
