::March Reflection::

A couple of days ago I read the most heartfelt and heartbreaking post over on This Life I Live, a blog by Rory Feek. It made me think so much about life. My kids. And, those daily struggles that I should just give up on. I don't mean give up in a sense of not doing them but in a sense of letting go because there are so many other amazing things to focus on.

This month is forever important in my life, 5 years ago on March 25th, I became a Momma to a little girl. The same little girl that today rolls her eyes at me, is super dramatic when she is getting in trouble, and with whom I fight and make-up with every morning when she doesn't want to brush her hair or her teeth. The same little baby who was so tiny, ever so sweet and loving. I already know we will have that kind of relationship; where we can't stand each other but we love one another like crazy. She is my heart. {So is Santi but it's different.} I am a little harder on her in many areas, I want her to be strong, independent and stand her ground for what she believes in. And, oh boy is she all these things. And, for my own sake I want her to be all the opposite, but not really. So, I know we will have a consistent power struggle, but at the end of the day she is in charge, she is Daddy's girl and we love her so much.

As a Momma, I want to be there for my children but I also don't want them to think life can be handed to you. I want them to work hard, to struggle less than I did, but to appreciate all that we have been able to give them. It's a constant struggle as a parent to find this balance. I am sure we will make mistakes but I know we will make it a life learning experience worth our while. Both of our kids are teaching us so much about life, about having fun, about being ourselves, and about moving forward.

As parents, we have a big responsibility to not only care for our children with the material items that they need but also with wise choices that will impact them in years to come. Just like our parents made sacrifices and decision as well as mistakes. These days I can totally understand them. I sympathize with them and realize that they a had a lot on their plate, but learning where my parenting should be strong and where I should just let it be. At the end of the day, every child is a person, with their own personality, faults, and destiny. I can't, even though I think I can, control everything.  It shouldn't be called parenting it should instead be called, "hands-on-learn-as-you-go-pray-you-don't-screw-up-experience".

I have learned to let go in so many areas where my self-proclaimed OCD wouldn't allow me to deviate. These days, it's a lot of "eh" and "ok, moving on", type situations. And, it is well with my soul. Otherwise, I would drive myself nuts.

One of those items was monthly letters to my children the first year of their life, which slowly changed to yearly Birthday Letters and it has worked out just fine.  I spend time with them, talk to them, try to be extra patient when they are doing "experiments" in my bathroom with food coloring and all my white towels; so I know I am creating lasting memories for them that don't need to be documented daily.

This is Camila's birth month and I want to share more about her throughout the month, in the meantime, you can read her Birthday letters up to now HERE.

A Christmas Letter of Apology!

Dear Family & Friends,

As our Christmas tree continues to fill with great personalized greeting cards, I feel I should apologize. I know. I try to do to so much and am at the end of the day not as organized as I wish I could be. It's been a few years now since we send out nice family Christmas cards (would it be horrible to send out some from 2011? Just asking. ). For that I am sorry. We do however appreciate all the wonderful well wishes, pictures, and cards that are sent to our home every year, some of them yearly now.

We have you all very near to our hearts during this time of year. Please know that we have not forgotten you and that we hope you understand how busy our lives have become. As I am sure yours are too. This year alone we had changes in jobs, two kids in soccer, we became parent coaches and had several small road trips to make lasting memories with our family. It was a great year, and we cannot complain.

We appreciate your patience with us as we have not been as available as we should have been, but we hope that you can also understand, life happens. I cannot promise that 2016 will be any different, but we do hope that you too can seek out new adventures in 2016 for you and your loved ones. As for our family, we have new road trips in mind, many new ideas to share, and chaos to display. Ha.

Hoping you have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful new year. We say THANK YOU/GRACIAS, to all those who followed our adventures in 2015 and we invite you to stick around, there is so much more to come. Be sure to follow us on our social media sites and let us know if you have an idea we should share or something you wish to know about our family.

We love to hear from our readers: mommaofdos@gmail.com

FELIZ NAVIDAD! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! BLESSINGS.

Love Always,

::Be Thankful:: Family

It's easy to remind ourselves of the people we should be thankful for I am thankful for my family. My parents, who have sacrificed so much, worked so hard and always loved us. They have always thought about our well-being and wanted the best for us. We all have our shortcomings, we all have our faults. But, that has not stopped them from moving us forward, pushing us on and reminding us what family really is. Thankful for my brothers and my sister, without them I don't think I would know what responsibility is. Without them I wouldn't have had long time companionship, someone to fight with, someone to nag at. Without my family, I would have nothing.

For them, I am thankful.

Please follow us for the next 7 days as I tell you what I am most thankful for during this holiday season.

When you do too much.... #FridayLetter

Dear Reader,

Trust me. I know what it seems like. If you follow me on Social Media or here on my blog, it's easy to think...she does too much. But, maybe I don't do enough. Crazy to think about it this way. But, I could be gone tomorrow and never have done anything that I really wanted to do. A little of it all. I exercise sometimes, I eat right some days, I take care of my family and love my children, all the time. I work hard and over share.

But, you know what?

Some people never do anything or enough.

I don't want to have regrets of the what if's?

I try it all. I succeed at some stuff, and fail at others. I never give up and keep moving forward, no matter how many times I stumble or look dumb. It's life. Is it really that serious? Life is far too short to take anything that serious. Nothing more than my kids and Husband deserve my full dedication and commitment. In part all that I do is because of them

Because, of their patience with the Momma stuck to the computer. Because, of their support of the Wife that goes to all these random events, because of the their endless love of me. No matter what kind of mistakes I make or how many cuss words spew out of my mouth. My youngest Camila will say "Mommy, what have I told you about cussing at Daddy!!" with her hand on her hip and her tiny face. I love those moments. I live for those words. I laugh and forget what the cussing was about.

So, do I do too much

Sure.

Maybe.

Who knows.

Who cares?

All I know is that no matter what, love exists in my life daily. And that my friends, is all that matters.

Happy Friday.

P.S. This place will be quiet and lonely for a few days..maybe a week or so...I will be out of town on business...{Have always wanted to say that!}.....then you will ask... "why isn't she doing anything?" Funny huh?

Sincerely,

This Momma

Turning 6....

Dear Santiago,

I have been writing you ::letters :: since before you were born. In my heart, in  mind. ::Letters:: that I would hope you could one day look back on. As a reflection of how much you are loved and how perfectly you have been created.

We don't have a perfect life, but you {and your Sister} make everything so much better. On days when I am sad, or mad; you are one person I can look to, to make me smile. And, to remind me, that life is not that serious.

You are full of energy. You play all day and truly have so much fun. I am guessing that's a good thing. Shows how much life and spirit you have. How you don't give in and how healthy and strong you have always been. You rarely get sick, when you do it's not easy but you are usually okay within a couple of days.

I think over the years I have covered how great you are; how much you are growing and how loved you are by everyone in our lives. But, I can't tell you enough, how loved you truly are. You are my sweet baby boy. My tough yet sensitive boy. I want you to continue to be who you are.

You started Kindergarten this year. It has not been easy. The adjustment to a different structure, to a different environment and teacher. I don't know if this new beginning shows patterns for the future. If so, it won't be easy but know that together we can do this! Your Dad and I, will always be there for you, to support you, to cheer you on, to help you.

You have a strong personality, you don't take no for an answer and are very stubborn. Again, not sure what all this means for years to come but I hope they are traits that will help you grow into a strong minded and independent individual.

You fight with your Sister, all day. All the time. It's annoying but I hope you can out grow that, one day, although I heard it gets worse before it gets better.

You {and Camila} are the sunshine in my heart. God has truly blessed me. You show me every day how to slow down, how to relax, and how to live life with no regrets. You remind me of the patience I lack and the strength I need to develop. Because in moments when I am frustrated you remain calm. And, at times when I have needed to be strong, you are always there to show me what true strength is.

I love you so much. I pray for you everyday. I want to hold you and protect you everyday of your life. I know how naive that is...because I can't. But, I know that you will be ok....

Happy 6th Birthday my Beautiful Baby!!!!

Love, Yo'Momma <3 nbsp="" p="">

::Friday Letters::

Dear Life, things are well. Thank you. Even when they weren't going so well, I am happy with how far I have come. My children are strong and healthy. My Hubby and I are getting ready to celebrate 9 years of marriage.Trust me, no matter how much I complain.... You have been awesome to me.

Dear Self, Keep going. You can do this. Trust that this is what you are made for. I know you are tired and some days you REALLY need to push yourself. Think of those who can't push any longer, who don't have everything you have and for them; do more, be more and rise above. You have made it through worse and now at your best, you should be able to breeze your way through.

Dear Texas, Yo'its HOT for real THO! No really. It's hot. Not complaining. Just sayin'. It's a little HOT.

Dear Houston, In case you didn't get the memo, ESTA CALIENTE. For real tho. I think Texas hates us. It's only cause we are awesome. Haters gon'hate.

Dear YouTube, I will conquer you. I will. In the mean time, watch me be a total dork and share as much as I can. Practice makes perfect.

Dear Amiga's, You know who you are. Thank you for all of your constant love and support. For always listening to me when I need to vent, for always being there with words of encouragement and true friendship. For being the type of Women that inspire and uplift. Who are genuinely and sincerely happy for me when good things happen. Who know that being this way is far better than those who are always trying to bring each other down. Thank you for being happy for me and my successes. PLEASE know that I am here to cheer you on and bring you up as well.

Dear Hubby & Kids, I love you. You know that, no words can describe how I feel, no matter how loud I yell them. Maybe sometimes you can listen to me the first time, just sayin'. Thanks.

Dear New Job, be kind to me. I have so much depending on this and I really want to LOVE you. I really do. I am old. My career needs to be now. I like you so far. It's only been a week. Be gentle.

Dear Sun, back up off me dude! For real tho.

::A letter to my Graduate:: Pre-K that is...

My son is 5. He isn't graduating from High School or better yet this isn't his Ph.D from Harvard...yet.

But, the moment was so great I had to share.

My son, my little man graduated Pre-K. The little boy that took me 10 years to have, the boy who stole my heart in September 2009. He is graduating from Pre-K! All I can think is, he amazes me. He is a Blessing.

He is a 5 year old none-the-less. My patience is tested everyday and he loves getting dirty and making messes. It's who he is. Who is becoming and how he is evolving that leaves me breathless all the time.

To him I write the following:

::Dear Santiago::

I didn't understand Pre-K or Kindergarten graduations either. But, now that I have you and Camila I see purpose and meaning. Your purpose is to be uplifted and encouraged. Motivated to always do your best. To know that while you have reached these smaller goals and achievements in your life there are so many other much bigger and better goals that await you. More graduations that can be had.

Your purpose is to enter a new chapter of your forming life. The next chapter will be formative into your young adulthood. I want so many things for you. I want you to grow into not only a self-control, respectful young man. But, also be intelligent and make good, smart decision. There is a difference. You can be both. You can do both.

What does this all mean and why does it even matter? It's like so many other small things that should be celebrated in life. It's another milestone that you have been blessed to reach. You will be entering Kindergarten this fall with it will come another level of education and growth.

I don't ever want you to feel limited and I want you to always reach for the highest possible goals and levels in every action you take. Because you will soon find out an education is not something every child has the privilege of having. You should take advantage of the roads opened by myself and your Dad. We both worked hard as first generation Mexican-Americans to graduate college and provide for you and Camila what most parents cannot for their children.

An education as cliche as this may sound, is the key to many open doors. It will not seem that way for years to come, but one day when you sit in a high ranking position you will look back and think...I am glad my parents made me do this. Because of your current education that we are able to provide, you are a confident, smart young man. Learning right from wrong and powerful bible verses that will one day get you through those difficult moments in life.

Though you are only 5, know that you can do anything you want and become whomever you wish but it will not happen successfully without hard work and dedication.

We love you so much. Your day was filled with so much love and support. Some tantrums and time-outs but we made it through the awesome milestone.

Love you always,

Your Momma

We plan to do as your daycare Director stated... "Mold, guide and encourage you..." always.

::Friday Letters:: Grace & Thankfulness

Hello Friday,

For most, this day is one to rejoice in because it's the end of a hard work week. For me, Friday's usually mean the beginning of my second jobs work week. No, not my job as a Momma or Wife, because that is never ending, but my job as a blogger. Writer and Doer of THINGS, I know I'm a busy body. A year ago began a very busy season for my blog. While I love writing and events, I feel the start of a new season coming on. And, although most won't believe me, I am slowing down.

The commitment will be less. Not because I don't love blogging and going to events but because I am at a stand still in all places that I stand. I am not excelling at one thing or another, I am in between. So, it's time to choose a path, a road, a journey and excel in that. I want to write a book. I want to be more emotionally involved in my community and I want to be more purposeful with my family and career. Yes, it involves SOME blogging so I won't be ditching it altogether but I'm changing my direction, once more. It's my own way of re-branding!

Thank you Friday for the perspective of how busy I really am! Not complaining, I'm just going to make changes! I am very thankful for everything and everyone in my life. I want to be happy and graceful, thankful and filled with joy. I know what I have to do to change all this and I am working on it.

Dear Beautiful Children,
I love you both. So much. Thank you for making my life chaotic and wild. I need that balance in my life. Sorry for not always being the best Momma. I try hard everyday to learn from my mistakes, to love and to hold you longer, & to give you kisses and understanding. I know I yell too much and it probably will not get better. Sorry. I love you though more than anyone ever will. You are strong and confident & I don't want that to ever change. I always want that to grow every day. I will do my best to give you the guidance you need and the encouragement to pursue you dreams and be happy.

Ricardo (the Hubby),
Thank you for putting up with me. I love you! Did I say thank you for putting up with me? I mean it. Thank you for loving me the way I am and for who I am, even though I b*tch & complain so much. I will try to stop but you know watching Empire gets me all kinds of hyped up! #CookieMonsters, just sayin'!

Hello Blog Readers!!!
I truly appreciate all the LOVE and support!!!! Most my social medias are at 1K my cup runneth over! I love the journey of growth and your following. I love hearing from you and reading your comments! Thank you for being here!!!!!

Love Always,

::Camping:: 5 Lessons I Hope my Children Learned...

For months now we have been preparing and planning our very first camping trip to Garner State Park since we had our children. This past weekend the camping trip happened. While it was about relaxing, getting away and enjoying the down time; it also served as the perfect moment to reflect.

I learned that my children are so adaptable and that they don't mind working. The helped build tents, prepare camp fires and packed snacks for our afternoon hike. They were motivated, determined and enthusiastic about all the experiences we were living; some traits that I feel will be useful in their early adulthood and life in general.

A few things that I hope they learn and carry with them not only now but throughout their life are the following:

:: Never Give Up :: Things in life don't always go as planned. I hope they can always see the positive side and know that they should never give up; no matter how difficult the path maybe. They should always strive to reach their goals, to make it to the top and be the best they can be.

It can be done...

:: Be Fearless :: I am a big wuss. At 33 I fear a lot mostly because I know the dangers and consequences of most actions. As for my kids, I want them to be fearless. I want them to know the danger and consequences that surround them but at the same time I don't want that to stop them from being who they want to be. I don't want them to be afraid of setting big goals or having even bigger dreams. I want them to know that they can reach any goal and attain all of their dreams.

As they did this weekend.

:: Technology isn't everything :: Yes. I said it. While camping we did minimal technology. I posted several pictures on Instagram  but that was the extent of Social Media and technology that I did. My kids had their iPads  for the trip but at times, all of that became obsolete as we were too busy enjoying our surroundings and more importantly our company.

Life is ultimately about connecting in-person and with nature, it allows us to reflect not only on the creations the universe has given us but also the blessings that life has bestowed upon us as the years go by.

:: The Stars are Beautiful ::  When we were camping the sky seemed so close and the stars were so bright. Lighting our night and giving us peace. It was amazing. My kids loved looking for the moon and staring at the stars.

Life is too short and the sky should be enjoyed.

:: Enjoy Life :: Not everything should be about work. Taking a break and enjoying life when possible is such a a great blessing. I want my kids to know that while we should work hard to reach our goals, we should also reap the benefits of our hard work and enjoy life, travel and have fun!

Learning about everything and everyone around us.

One question that we kept asking our kids while on our trip was; "What is your favorite part of our camping trip so far?" And, both of them answered things that we wouldn't usually do like; "climbing the rocks and big dinosaur mountains." Or "roasting marshmallows and making S'mores on the fire.

As a Momma, this makes my heart happy on so many levels. It makes me feel as if I have somehow accomplished my goal of creating lasting, happy memories that my children will remember for times to come.

What are some lessons you hope your children learn from their experiences as they grow?

::Friday Letters:: ....with a little rant... kinda..sorta

Dear Friday,

Do you know that it's October 3rd? Let me say that again. OCTOBER 3rd, where in the heck did the last 9 months go?!?!?!? No really, this is a joke right. OCTOBER. Only 3 months for 2015 to be here? I am not ready for this.

Sincerely,
Emotionally Freaking Out!

Dear Friday,

I am beat. No really like to the ground. I need to find time, organization and did I mention time? Maybe finding my mind and some sanity would be good too. Our little family is so busy, every week that my time just never seems to be enough. Note to self: taking things off my plate should not be followed by adding bigger more difficult things to my life! Ahii.

Thanks for not having my back Friday! You owe me some major amount of margaritas!

Dear Friday,

Ignore my rants the lack of sleep is causing a total meltdown and I am really OK, I just need a nap. NO really, I am fine. ::hi, my name is Connie and sleep is for weak.::

#teamnosleep

Dear Life,

Thank you for the last 9 months, you have no idea the amount of people of I have invested in who in return have inspired and motivated me to this very place and moment. I think that I have propelled into a very good place and I am happy. I am blessed. A little tired and out of my mind but in a good place to start over and begin the bigger journey. My true purpose. To follow my passion and see my goals through.

Thankfully yours,
This Momma

Dear Life,

Have I thanked you for my little family yet? I do this Monday thru Thursday and the weekends too. And, yes, my kids are a lot nutty but they are the cutest little brown people I have ever met. My son has perfected his Mexican grito every time a corrido, tejano song or ranchera comes on the radio, it's amazing really. Camila will cuss randomly but is such an angel and can recite her Bible School versus perfectly. :: Please don't judge she is 3 1/2 and learning:: My kids are human and our lives are real. We are not perfect and we do make mistakes and are learning everyday..but that doesn't mean that I will ever force my family to be something we are not. We do have faults and we also have hopes and faith. I do believe in creating respectful and responsible law abiding citizens in our home but I don't believe in being fake or being what others think we should be. So, my children are who they are... and every day that is acceptable to me.

Thank you for teaching me everyday a new lesson in life,
Momma of Dos

::8 Years and Counting:: A Marriage Reflection

For many of you who know us, you should know that Ricardo and I have grown-up together. We were teens when we met. 15 years later and after 8 years of marriage, 2 toddlers, and a lots of good and bad we are still here. Together. In love. In our own way. My Hubby is not your typical romantic who remembers the small things the way I do. For a long time, I really disliked him for it. But, then I slowly began to realize who he is...

He is above all a thoughtful and determined provider for his family, organized and mindful of what we can and cannot afford.

He is a happy father who LOVES his children unconditionally.

He loves me and cares for me.

He tries every day to be better person.

He brings me flowers when I am mad. It counts. A lot.

He accepts me and my crazy ideas but he doesn't always agree with me.

He is my Husband, a Father, a Brother, a Son, a Brother-in-Law and a Son-in-Law as well as a friend to many.

He is an intelligent man with his own plan, trying to focus on his goals.

His laugh is contagious.

He is the love of my life. My one and only. My always and forever. NO matter how much we argue and say things...we are still together. Making it through the struggles of everyday.

Marriage is not easy. Living with another person for years and years is not easy. It's work. Everyday a new day. Everyday a new challenge. We work at our marriage, some days are good, some are bad and others are great. On the worse days we give each other space, we hear each other out but we never run away.

Marriage has been a blessing, a life changing experience and a life time commitment. I don't plan on giving up and I am sure and blessed that he will not give up either.

People will see us and judge us, as individuals for what we are not or what we don't do, or what we lack or what they think we are. But, in the end Him and I know each other, what we have been through and where we are going. Nothing else matters. Ever.

The goal is to make it and make it good. Our vision are two children. They will see us, they will follow us, they will know what and who we are, they are watching us and for them, we will do our best to be great. For them, for us and for each other as individuals.

I say it all the time. Our lives are not perfect, nor do we claim it or pretend to be that way. Our lives are together and together we make it work. Some days we are happy, others we are sad and some days we are very, very mad but always together.

We try every day to make the best of what we have. We don’t have it all. We might not have the best but we have love…every day.

Ricardo, I love you. I don’t tell you enough how much I appreciate you and admire you, for your strength, your courage and your determination. I love you…..until death do us part. Happy 8th year wedding anniversary, and happy 15 year anniversary of being together.

::Friday Letters:: are back!!

::Friday Letters::

Dear Friday, THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE! Can I get an AMEN! ::NO really:: I decided on Monday that I would start my Friday Letters again and for some reason Friday took forever to get here!! Longest week ever!! Hellooooo Friday!!!

Dear Hubby, Thank you for your support this week. And, every week. Even though I gripe and complain. And, blah and ahhh. Oh yeah and Grrrrrrrr and GRRRRRR all week long. I don’t mean it. Ever. You are awesome. You love me. You support my crazy last minute ideas and this here blog and you don’t judge me. Except for when I leave the milk open and when I do the whole laughing thing online like this… haha. Ha.

Dear Kids, I might say you are pain in my butt all week but I love you. You are a bit of a pain but it comes with the whole…”Santiago/Camila, I am your Momma“ thing. I love you more than words. Everything I do, I do it with our future in mind, your wellbeing and your college fund. Just sayin’. You are kind of expensive, BUT you are worth it and I pray you are smart. Just sayin’!!

Dear Summer, WOOOOOOHHHH! You have been BUSY but a TRUE blessing! Every experience has been taken in, embraced and written about on my blog or social media sites. I know people are tired of me but that’s ok. I have a purpose. I have a goal. I am driven. My vision becomes clear with every step. My motivation and inspiration grows with every new opportunity given. Thank you Summer you have been extra GOOD to me, my PayPal account thanks you! ::wink wink::

Dear Life, don’t allow me to reach the top and if I do knock me back down, bring me back to my roots, remind me of why I started this and WHO I started this for. Allow me to remain humble but proud of my accomplishments and limit my cockiness so that people don’t hate me. And, if they do hate me, oh well, I can’t please everyone. Just sayin’! At the end of the day solo hay un camino y ese camino es para adelante!!

Dear Friends, Family, Acquaintances and New Friends and Business Relationships, THANK YOU for believing, for supporting, for taking a risk with me. Hugs and positive vibes to you all!!

Dear Universe, BRING IT ON! ::closes eyes tightly and waits to be hit by the universe:: Ha. I am thinking it all up in a dream and then putting it out there in the universe and being brave and having the courage to take off. And, believing in myself! I will take you on. Some days I know I will fall flat on my face with my words, action and personality but other days I hope to conquer you, learn and continue to grow!

Happy Friday Ya’ll!!!!!!!!!!!!

What’s on the books for your Friday??

::Queridos Hijos:: #LessonsLearned

::Dear Children::

If you’re a Momma or are around children then you know that moment in the movie “The Croods” were Grug decides to throw his family over the cliff into the light knowing that he would disappear into the darkness. It’s an intense moment; as a parent making life changing and difficult decisions that may or may not ultimately benefit your family as a whole, is a challenge.

It’s what we do though and sometimes we have to make these difficult decisions even if our family members don’t understand why. In the end we know they are necessary for us to move forward to evolve and grow! As a Momma I make these decisions daily maybe right now, not as difficult as those made by Grug but I make decisions none-the-less. The decisions are sometimes filled with fears and doubt of what the outcome may be but they are always made with the best intentions at heart.

I know that one day as my children you will probably “hate me” for not allowing you to go out and do some random activity with your friends  but trust me “es por tu bien”. And, I pray that when you achieve and accomplish you will be able to see the light and understand why as parents we make the choices that we make.

I love you so intensely everyday more and more!

Love,

Momma

::3 Year Old Letter to Camila Isabel::

A week ::and 2 days:: ago, yes I am late, my tiny princess turned 3!

A letter I wrote to Cami on her 3rd Birthday....

Today you turn 3, when I look at you I see a tiny teenager filled with innocence and pure-heartedness. Your eyes are always seeking more and your laugh is so genuine and filled with life and joy. You can be a perfect princess and a tantrum throwing 3 year old all at once. I see attitude and sweetness. One day you might not want me to be around you but remember that I spent endless, sleepless nights cleaning your butt and puke off my shirt. You will owe me some quality time young lady! You are definitely worth it.

I don’t know how many more years will pass before I can no longer carry you to bed or before you no longer want me to but for now I know that it's one of my most favorite times of the day. Not only because the whirlwind of constant action that you and your brother create, temporarily rests but also because of the moment.  I pick you up usually from the couch and you always wrap your skinny sweaty arms around my neck and place your  tiny clammy hands on my cheek. Those tiny hands are a beautiful reminder that nothing else matters. Nothing else matters.

Your favorite movie right now is Despicable Me 2, the “funny one with Lucy”, you say. You love the purple Minions and your birthday party had to be minion filled you walked around the day before saying…”BLAH!” and sticking your tongue out just like the minions do.

You can talk forever and a day, much like myself. You love medicine and feel “sick” on a daily basis. Mostly for the drama. And, because you don’t like school/daycare much. Your Dad somehow believes you everyday. Everyday.

Your brother is your world, you want to be like him, you want to play with him and some days if you are lucky he lets you breath the same air as him.

You are sensitive. A lot. But, don’t let that fool you because I have seen you be tough. You can stand your ground when needed and can be a bit stubborn at times. You get your way sometimes. Keep on. You will need a little of all these traits to become a great leader. Which as Bossy-McBossy in our home you usually take the lead.

You are super girly more than me, I have no make-up because you get a hold of it and make it your own. You love company and are such a social butterfly. You speak and we listen. You are beautiful in so many ways, remember that everyday. Never allow this world to tell you otherwise.

You despise brushing your hair. You have a frantic look most days but it suits your cute little face and trust me it never phases you....ever.

You are complex and so simple. You are always happy and your imagination is growing daily.

You make silly faces, the funnier the better, you like your brother are very animated and you are a happy girl.

You love to model and as soon as your Dad stats playing... "Applause" by Lady Gaga your hands meet your hips and you start walking, waving, spinning and blowing kisses. It's the best.

Your favorite song is Royals by Lorde. You love it. You sing it.

You complete our lives and shine light and happiness into our family. You are an amazing daughter who yes can be a bit stubborn and demanding but you are also filled with hugs and so much LOVE. You have learned to pray for all of us, everyday.

You are a Daddy's girl, your every word steals his heart, he calls you "piernitas" because since the day you were born you made a pact with him that you would never have long legs, but you do. Keeps him on his toes, for years to come I am sure....

You still drink from a "Titi" (bottle) you are obsessed, you carry 3 at a time. You are a bottle hoarder.

I love sitting and watching you talk. Your thoughts are always so insightful, you question those things that I as an adult, never think to question. I love that.

Happy Birthday Camila. You are our world. We LOVE you so much!
Love,
Momma, Daddy and Santi.

{4 years Santiago} Letters to my Son

My Beautiful Baby,
{it's what I call you every time I hold you in my arms, by the way...you are really big but still I hold you like a baby...my baby....}

4 year letter

Today you are 4 years old.
You are active and no one can stop you.
You are stubborn but still a sweet baby.
You are beautiful and loving.
Your smile lights up a room.
If you sleep long enough you wake up and say
"Good Morning Mami!"

You are taller than most and in a size 6/7 clothes and size 11 shoe.
You brighten up my days and make me nervous all at once.
Everyday is a new adventure for you and you are eager to take on the day's "challenges"...

You are curious and sometimes we don't agree.... you want your way and I
want what's best.

Your life is so simple and easy. You don't know how to have
a bad day. And, everyday that I pick you up from school you say,
"Mom, I had fun today!"
You have fun everyday, even when you don't feel good or are in a bad mood.
You fight with your Sister, a lot but you are also very protective, loving and giving...
when  you want to be.
You are definitely a Momma's boy and your Dad's best buddy.
You love to make up words and speak Spanish when needed.
You are full of life and vibrant!
You love to run and play and laugh and just be happy....you tell me...
"Mom, just let me be happy!"
when I try to calm you down or keep you quiet.

You are very much a ladies man and you even have the best dance moves.
You love all things "boy", you are rough and tough but sweet and sensitive and you even play with your Sister's babies and kitchen.

You want reassurance as to how much I love you almost daily. I don't mind telling you how amazing and beautiful you are and how much I love you...but know that this life is not fair and people of the world will never make you who you are. God has created you; strong, unique and loved...that is all that matters.
Your best friend in daycare is "Sanchez", the other Santiago of the class.

You are my life and although it's often filled with tantrums and tears...you have a way of turning all my wrongs into the best rights ever. God has blessed us with you and your Sister.
You are the little man that stole my heat 4 years ago.
Your Daddy and I love you { & Camila} more than life!

You may not know this but you have everything you need and everyone you need in your life, maybe not everything you want but we provide what we know you need to thrive as a child and to grow; mentally, physically and emotionally. We support you and we will always be here for you..if one day we are not..don't be scared...look to God, He has brought us this far.... and He will take us the distance...

Santiago; you have no idea the amazing and intelligent little boy that you are, you say the best things and you come up with the best comments... every word that you say is heard and acknowledged.

And, yes...some days we have our days. You push every button and try to surpass every limit. We keep you in line. And, although it's cliche...at times..it hurts us more than it hurts you...we want you to be happy but we also want you to learn to be respectful and humble. We will never break your spirit although sometimes you act as if it's the end of the world when the word "NO" comes out of our mouths. You have survived and you will survive even the most stern "NO's", life is filled with them so it's better you hear them now from us and learn that they are normal.

You are a great son and a good boy but you are over active and sometimes you beat us at the how's and what to do with you.... your imagination is expressed in so many ways. You love to draw Angry Birds,  your favorite game, in every notebook. You also draw me and your Dad and Camila. We look like potatoes but one day it will be different, practice makes perfect. You play with all your toys as if they were alive, scary yes but so amazing to watch.

You are built like an athlete and even "Box" with your Dad, and talk about "faceball"...{baseball, basketball or football...they are all "faceball"} yet I have a feeling the arts maybe your calling...your Dad claims I think everything is your calling at the end of the day..it's up to you. God will guide you. You will know how to use your talents and what you will develop.

You love watching "Connie Cow" on Youtube. You know how to use my cellphone and computer better than me at times. You love your GranMa and GranPa. You pray for us all and have special request when you know our loved ones are ill. You tell me about your Bible readings and sing songs everyday. And, so much more!

I love you and pray to God that you remain healthy and protected by all of those who love you. No words can ever describe how we feel on a daily basis to have you and your Sister in our lives!

Happy 4th Birthday my beautiful baby Boy!!!

We Love you!!!!

Momma {Daddy & Camila too!}

{2 years of Cami} Letters to my Daughter...

{Dear, Camila Isabel}

bdaypage

You go by many nicknames but you are simply my precious gift. I love you. As you turn 2 my heart skips a beat just like the day we met. Your heart melted into mine and our lives forever linked. No matter how old you and I grow, life is our canvass and your smile paints it of sunshine and pure love.

You are my ever growing skinny long leg beauty. So, sweet and wild. So, beautiful and so smart! You are indeed a silly Daddy's girl and a super girly Momma's baby. You have an spunky little attitude and won't take "no" for an answer. You have a million and ONE questions daily and you talk to everyone about anything. You can literally talk up a storm and the silence is your playground.

You are very interested in; who everyone is, what everyone is doing and what everything is, oh yes, and "how it work?". You are our little P.I., always seeking and always smiling. You love to hug your Brother 'Tavo, who some days doesn't give you the time of day.. you are patient, he is a boy. You also stand your ground with him and fight back now... only later to give up and follow his direction. He loves you. You are his Sis'der.

We hug you and kiss you, and you say.. "Dat'nasty?" but still you are loved and cared for. We give you what you want and when we lay down the law you get overly dramatic, lots.

You love make up and play with dolls but you are also a little tomboy and can run and play with your Brother all day long. You love to go outside. Your favorite food is bananas. Your favorite snacks are anything with "pica on it". You love spicy food and you can eat just about anything no matter how spicy. You are tough but a soft and gentle baby. We love you.

Two years ago today you came into our lives as a Beautiful Blessing. Today, you run our home and stole our hearts. You and I share a love for your "Ta-ddy" and your brother "Tavo". You are girlier than me; you know how to put make-up on better than me and I am sure you own more shoes than me! You are heartfelt and passionate about singing with your Daddy, you sing all his favorites and you are not shy! You love us as much as we love you...You are my Princess!!

Life would not be the same without you and we love you more than words can describe. Yesterday, today and always!

Happy Birthday My LOVE!!!!

Love Always,
Your Momma
