{Children} #stoptheviolence #prayer

Speaking life, truth and positivity into my children's lives is so important to me.

In the midst of the horrible tragedy on Friday morning in CT, all I could think about is my kids. My home. This is where the teaching begins. Right now my kids are little, they are overactive and they are, well, kids filled with tantrums and outburst. My Husband and I are fairly new at this but we have attempted to take on a different approach with every tantrum. Out of frustration in the past I have had different reactions, these days I realize that if I keep cool, calm and collected {my Husband usually is} then my children will listen to me better. In return I pray that they too are learning that reacting in a cool, calm and collected way is the way to approach most situations in life. To keep a level head and to stay positive with your words and your actions.

The teaching, I know, begins at home. It's what my mind kept telling me on Friday morning and throughout the day. Respect. Respect those around you, especially your elders as long as they never harm you physically. In which case it is OK, to tell them to stop and leave you alone and to tell Momma and Daddy about it. {We are teaching my kids who is allowed in their personal space, it's a must!}

My Husband and I have vowed to stay on the same terms with every situation. If he says no, I say no. If he says it's ok then I say it's ok, all within reason. With every situation we attempt to understand and explain to my son and daughter and be reasonable with them, because even at a young age, they are more than absorbing everything we say, do and how we react. We've learned that the hard way... i.e. curse words.

Sometimes though, I do feel that even though the parents of some of these people who commit horrific acts are as cool, calm and collected and attempt to vocalize their concerns with their children, there comes a point when actions and words become something faint and these troubled men and women, will do what they want regardless. I know the importance of speaking up, speaking to my children about every aspect of their lives because my Momma did that with us and she still does. No matter how uncomfortable the conversation got my Momma never let me leave the room feeling confused or with doubts. And, I always knew how much she loved me and that every action she took was for my benefit and because she loved me! Even to this day.

We will attempt to capture their minds and dig deep into their hearts to open up about life, outcomes and staying healthy not only physically but mentally as well, but what happens when these kids do what they want anyway. Have we failed? Where have we failed?

All, I know is that I vow to not only pray boldly for my children on a daily basis but to show up in a bold manner in their lives and in ever single aspect of their lives. My children are my world and I don't want them to harm or be harmed.

Prayer. Counseling. Respect.

::Dear God, Teach me to be the parent my children need in their lives and to allow them to grow with each experience as I guide them through life and you guide our families and community. I pray that you protect my children, keep them safe and shield them from harm. I know that life is filled with failures, doubt and disappointments but PLEASE dear Lord, teach my children that there is hope, a shinning light and Your Love NO MATTER WHAT or how many times they fall, and that You and us as their parents will be there to help them get back up and on track! Allow my children to see the good in people but to be cautious of evil that surrounds us on a daily basis, never to be blinded by ignorance, never to be so naive that they don't sense danger or people who want to take advantage of them, and to always be aware that Jesus is the way and the path to take when in doubt. I pray, in Jesus name. Amen. Thank You, Lord!::

{But, I have prayed enough....}

Yesterday I expressed how prayer was all I had.

Then I thought..
last night while I was praying
my son came looking for me
and it was bath time then bedtime..
did I ever finish praying?

So, then my thought was...
I say I have been praying about it a LOT,
but have I really or have I just been really thinking about it
and like my usual self ASSUMING that God knows what I am asking for
or what I am praying for without giving Him a clear thought!

Today I will pray.

With my whole heart.

An entire prayer.

About....

My Husband
My Marriage
My Children
Motherhood
My family
My finances
My life
My Girlfriends
My relationships
My health
Being healthy
Motivation
Happiness
Love
Faith
Faithfulness
Loyalty
Peace
Understanding
Hope
Joy
Contentment
Safety

and above all for God's will to be done in every single area of my prayers.

Prayer.

{When all you have is prayer....} ♥

My hearts been a little heavy lately. For many personal reasons right now. The enemy is trying to chip away at my desperate little heart. The enemy doesn't know though that God is fighting this inner battle for me and nothing stands a chance against Him!

For a while I did really well.

That feeling of belonging was coming back to life. Change happened and everything was well; short of amazing.

Then for weeks..months...that feeling came back...you know the ONE...irrelevance. Silence. Sadness. The sense that you just don't belong. That place where you can no longer sit still and life just begs you for change.

Because there is a better place out there for you. Maybe. Maybe?

I look around and everything is in place. Smiles. Happiness. Belonging. Then my heart yells but WHY? And in the words of the ever so famous and  horribly spoken, Dane Cook, WHY NOT ME?

And, the whisper tells me..."why not YOU? You are here for a reason with a purpose on a mission. I never told you I would make this easy, that life would be easy, that your life would be set and perfect. Never. Following Me is NOT meant to be easy, and spelled out for you. Following Me means trusting without seeing what I have in store for you. "

But it's difficult. To wait. To hold my breath. To sit in this irrelevance. To wait. To hold my breath. It's been a while. When I think back..it's been a long while. The irrelevance sits, in every corner of my heart and marinates until I can't hold it in any longer.

"Do you hear yourself Connie?"

Every time things get bad you want to bail.

Here is the thing {and I am simply sharing, no need to feel bad for me, that time is over..this here is menial}..for 10 years I stood in the storm. Faced it head on. I was 14 the first time I heard my Mother sob. The abuse. The knowledge. The pain. The tears. The struggles. I lived it. My Husband has been my Knight in shinning armor. He came "swooped" me up and shook me to wake up and to grow up! God gave me strength, motivation and hope. To move forward, to protect, to love, to forgive. I did. I have. I am in new place.

James 1:12 {Amplified Bible}
12Blessed (happy, [a]to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor's] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.

I thought that was hell, everything else should, would and could be easier. Right? Then the enemy settles in my mind and heart that lie. The lie of irrelevance.
The place where hope fails and I feel like a failure.

All those years, of building and growth. For what? For who?

Why not ME?  And I sit. In prayer.
Alone. Thinking. Tears.
Heart open and Bible in place.

God is here. He has ALREADY won this battle.

And prayer is all I have....

Prayer.

{Out of Pocket}

I know.

I have lost touch.

Not sure when I will be back..but I hope it's soon.

For now..I have one request...

Prayer Request that is....

For our family.

Extended family that is....

My Husband and his family need your prayers....for healing...strength...faith...clarity...victory!

I know they will overcome.

God performs miracles...and we are seeking his Faith! His Face!

Psalm 21:11; "though they plot evil against you and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed; for you will make them turn their backs!"
Thank You for your patience....

May you have a Blessed week....

Drought.

~Praise and Worship Wednesday~

You know how sometimes your soul seeks and all it hears is silence....

Well, I feel like this Summer has been that way for me.... for almost 3 months I have been searching....

And, then the other day as I drove to work it hit me...the drought....

Texas...Houston... dry...no rain....the earth seeking the rain... and when it comes...it will "revive"..the land will rejoice..in the rain...

That's how I feel..when the "flood gates of Heaven open"...and He comes at me...like the RAIN...I will feel revival...and rejoice!

Because yes.. "My Soul Longs for You".....

::deep breath::

I am reminded that this is NOT where God wants me forever but this is where He has me NOW..so I will embrace it...

~Praise and Worship Wednesdays~

Today a man let me in front of him in traffic....

I couldn't help but notice his shiny silver Range Rover....

He was a well dressed man...with nice sunglasses, probably pricey....

He seemed to have a good job; with what his appearance was and the nice SUV he was driving....

But still...I couldn't help but think..."I wonder what problems he has?" {Not in a sarcastic way but in a truthful way....}

Just because he seems to have an awesome life...doesn't mean he does....

No todo es lo que parece.... {Not everything is what it appears}

Many of us hide our deepest sorrows and fears behind expensive shades and fancy cars... but truth is...

We all have sorrows... we all have problems....we all have pain....

Our struggles may not be the same..but they are there none the less....

My devotional today read like this:

New mercies every morning,
Grace for every day,
New hope for every trial,
And courage all the way.~McVeigh

This is true... Courage all the way....

This man...like myself... walked out of his house this morning despite the sorrows, looking very stylish and MOVED forward... he like many of us is going through this journey of life.... WITH COURAGE.

The courage it takes to move ON....to MOVE forward!

I hope you too will move forward today filled with courage.....

Psalm 30:5
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime!

Weeping may last through the night,

but joy comes with the morning.

Why are we so hard on ourselves?

We try and try and try...

We do our best and think that we are doing our best...

Yet when evaluation of the self comes...we fail... to ourselves...

I have gone through 5 days of Lent season now....

catching myself...
torturing myself...
failing...myself....
defining myself...
evaluating myself....
devaluing myself...
reminding myself....
praying...for myself...

And still.. I can't seem to win this battle...against....MYSELF.

God has given me so many tools and resources, so many wonderful women of support...and still I fail... BUT then I think...I AM HUMAN...we are suppose to fail...Jesus was tempted by the devil...He never failed..but we are NOT Jesus.

Then I think, I am being  SO  hard on myself. I need to stop. I need to realize that I can do this...but ONLY with prayer and grace. With willingness and an open heart..I will be victorious. I will move forward and I will have FAITH.

That through HIM all things are possible.

Philippians 4:13 (New International Version, ©2011)

13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Seek, Resolve, and Share.

These are my 3 Lent season purposes {SEEK, RESOLVE, AND SHARE}.

As I go through this journey, I can't promise flowers and butterflies but I will say this..I am honest, open and willing.

I accept that for a while now Pride and Stubbornness have been my sidekicks. How petty? Yes. It is.

I am praying though for my hard heart to soften and open up to what the world has to say about me.

I am willing to change...a willingness that only I can bring forth....an effort that God will give me grace to endure..no matter what that change is!

I am not going to lie. I have been down this road before and failed...I have failed Him. HE HAS NEVER FAILED ME.

Again, I am honest. I want to change. I will be 30 years old this year. How ridiculous is that at 30 I can hold on to such a difficult past and think that I can move forward; whole heartily? I can't. I need to truly let go.

God is with me.

Why am I scared?

Who should I fear?

If He is with me...every step of the way...how could I think that He would let me go?

That His tight hold would loosen? Never.

He has never failed me...even though I have failed Him..many times

Today I realize how Blessed I am and how much I don't deserve it

I don't.

But, still HE manages to show me how MANY more Blessing He can give me!

And HE and THEY are all AMAZING!

Thank You God for giving me everything this undeserving girl could wish for and then some...

I PRAISE HIM FOR....

My Faith.
My Husband.
My Son.
My Daughter.
My Mom and Dad.
My Siblings.
My Nephew.
My extended family on both my hubby's side and mine.
My Sisters-in-Christ and amazing Girlfriends.
My Home.
My Job.
My Education.
My life as a whole.

Seemingly Perfect.

It's a lie to think that we are perfect.

We are not.

At all.

I have never been one to even remotely express or act perfectly.

I am human. I make many mistakes. I've said it a millions times...my husband is not always polite, my son doesn't always match and me..I am not ever perfect!

The fact that my husband and I have decided to be and do things in certain order and with specific purpose...doesn't make us perfect. We have been through a lot the last 12 years, together and as individuals. Never loosing sight of either fact. While we were still living at home we realized that there were individual "monsters" to tame, with our respective families. We "resolved" and agreed to leave behind those issues and "monsters", behind us not only the day we moved in together, but also 8 months later when we met at the altar. It's written, and I say it to young couples all the time. Ricardo taught me after we moved in together and got married that we could no longer be slaves to those "monsters" and problems within our former families, because now we had a family of our own to nurture and care for.

Married or not, life as a live in couple doesn't work until you resolve that, that life is only about 2 people who rely on God, you and your significant other.

At first this didn't resonate or make sense with me, the way it may not make sense to you.

My mom was a "single" mom for many years; I, being the oldest took on many, many, many roles; assistant provider for my 3 younger siblings, emotional supporter to my mom, over-all make things better for my family person, acting as a friend to my mom, mom to my younger siblings, sister to my siblings, student, employee and then some. Life was not easy. I endured a lot with my mom, good and bad. It was her and I through think and thin. But, she understood the day that I moved out and more so the day that I got married that I had to be everything I was to her but for my husband now. That her problems and issues had to be handled to the best of her ability. She was not selfish and never attempted to hold me back from becoming a completely, devoted wife and now mother. She understands my role and I appreciate that respect and the space that she has given me to develop my marriage in His eyes and for His will and purpose...so that now, as a grown woman..who seeks Faith and Wisdom, I can once more be her friend while she is my mom.

I am and have always been there for my mom as she has been there for me..but just as she once left her family to seek a family of her own..I left mine. It has made me stronger and wiser and allows me new perspective to handle new situations.

Respect. Space. God. Two People. Faith. Open Heart. Obedience. Honesty. Love. It's what it takes to begin a Faith-filled, loving, devoted and committed Marriage of Two.  {I THINK}

This is all random talking. I am on a journey this Lent season to resolve, seek and share.

Plain and Simple.

God, heavenly Father,
look upon me and hear my
prayer
during this holy Season of Lent.
By the
good works You inspire,
help me to discipline my body
and to be renewed in spirit.

Without You I can do nothing.
By Your
Spirit help me to know what is right
and to be eager in doing Your will.
Teach me to find new
life through penance.
Keep me from sin, and help me live
by Your commandment of love.
God of love, bring me back to You.
Send Your
Spirit to make me strong
in
faith and active in good works.
May my
acts of penance bring me Your forgiveness,
open my heart to Your love,
and prepare me for the coming feast
of the Resurrection of Jesus.

Lord, during this Lenten Season,
nourish me with Your Word of
life
and make me one
with You in love and prayer.

Fill my heart with Your love
and keep me faithful to the Gospel of Christ.
Give me the
grace to rise above my human weakness.
Give me new
life by Your Sacraments, especially the Mass.

Father, our source of life,
I reach out with joy to grasp Your hand;
let me walk more readily in Your ways.
Guide me in Your gentle mercy,
for left to myself I cannot do Your Will.

Father of love, source of all blessings,
help me to pass from my old
life of sin
to the new
life of grace.
Prepare me for the
glory of Your Kingdom.
I ask this through our
Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever.

Amen.

Cuando Yo Era Niña.

{Cuando yo era niña me acuerdo de.....}

Christmas {Navidad}

We used to leave whatever city in the US we happened to be in that year {my parents were nomads, HAHA. No really. Ok, they "migrated' a LOT!} and make the drive sometimes 8 hours, sometimes 24 to that border town where I almost always grew up; Reynosa.

It's the town, que vio nacer a mi papa, we had lots of family there {still do} who waited for us every year. We would be there for 2 or more weeks and attended every Posada until Christmas Eve, then wait for El Dia de Reyes. It's a great memory now long gone.

Reynosa has recently been plagued by "bad company". I pray that one day my children will get to experience Faith, Family and Holiday's as I did when I was a child. It's only fair that they can live and breath our Mexican culture the way me and my husband did.

I loved spending my summers there as well, playing in the wide open hot dirt roads of Mexico. I loved being a kid, laughing, and being worry free.

I love my cousins small and big; I miss them now.
