::Blogging 101 Workshop:: at Thinking Girls Boutique

About the blogging journey.....

When I started blogging in 2008, as my own personal improvement project to simply practice my writing skills, I couldn't imagine what it would become. I have long since left my job at Harris County Elections as part of their communications and outreach department but Momma of Dos has become one of the best personal improvement projects ever. As the year continued, Barack Obama became president and my inspiration grew. 2009 came and I became pregnant with my first son. My pregnancy was not easy. I quickly found myself expressing my pains, feelings, cravings and everything in-between and discovered, "mommy bloggers".

Soon after I had my son I realized I had become severely depressed during my pregnancy, since the depression "went away" when my son was born, I left it alone. 10 months after my son was born, I found out I would be having a second baby. This time a girl. And, that's how Momma of Dos was born. A new onset of depression began and this time it lingered past the first year after her birth. I continued to share and the sense of community became my free therapy.

In the Summer of 2012, I could no longer hold it together. I went to therapy and eventually had a panic attack in the fall of the same year. I landed in the hospital and was sent home to rest, I quit my job and decided I would refocus and take some time off. During this time I attended my first ever blogging conference, LATISM here in Houston. My blog would once more grow. In 2013 I returned to work full-time this time more relaxed and with more motivation to keep blogging. I have since been part of various campaigns local and nationwide as well as have been invited to several conferences both local and out of state, even made it to Washington DC last year!

Blogging has never been my full-time job, as a Momma/Wife with a degree, I have chosen to work outside the home and pursue a career which would match my education efforts. I work in Corrosion and that's pretty much all I share on here about my real job.

Blogging is a side-gig which has afforded me MANY experiences and at times extra income that is very much welcomed!

Fast forward to 2016, when I decided to host Blogging 101 classes partnered with Thinking Girls Boutique as the venue. The rewards of sharing  my journey, my work, and how to create your own blog for various reasons have been immense. I have met so many people from all walks of life. Those who just want to share their story of motherhood, of life, or their experiences to those who  are looking to enhance their small business' advertising/promotion strategy and exposure.

I love what I do and growth and change have allowed me to pursue passions I really didn't know I had....

::Blogging 101 with Momma of Dos:: 5 Fun takeaways as a Workshop organizer

As a Blogger one of my goals was to one day be able to share what I have learned the last 3 plus years! While I have been blogging since 2008, I didn't start working with campaigns and brands until 2012. In that time, my blog has grown from hobby and journaling into a great side business. One that I love and take very seriously.

2016 was kicked off with a bang. My first workshop was amazing. As the organizer, I feel I learned as much as the ladies who attended. It definitely motivated me to move forward with my idea of sharing. And, if you missed the first class I will have a repeat class in April.

Follow us for more details-
and here at Momma of Dos

Below are 5 things I learned from my workshop as the person conducting the workshop!

::5 Fun takeaways as a Workshop organizer::

{Picture credit: Ari of 3TwentySix}

(1) No Topic is off topic: The best part of creating content is learning about specific topics for my blog. But, meeting ladies in person helps open up a platform for so many other topics and no matter how much you want to stay on topic, it often gets better when we step outside the agenda. Know that no matter what, sometimes all topics are better than just sticking to what you know.

(2) No need to worry: I was so worried and tried to be so exact about everything I did, that I became very nervous. At the end of the day remembering that all the ladies were there to be inspired and motivated helped me to remember to relax. To not worry so much and to simply be myself. Things went on so much more natural when I simply let go and stopped worrying so much about things going well.

(3) Make it personal: The better you get to know people and the more you share your own experiences the better you can make direct connections. These connections will help you flow through your workshop content. And, the more examples you can provide from your own personal life, the more people can realize how they are not alone in their fears, doubts or questions. Giving them a  way to overcome the challenges helps them make that personal connection with your content.

(4) Make time for questions:  The more time you allow for questions the clearer the content can become and the more the participants can make those necessary connections with their own plan and how they will apply to their own lives. I loved listening and discussing questions that we all had because no matter what there are topics where I still have plenty of room to grow!

(5) Making Connections: Finally, at the end of it all, for me, it's all about making lasting connections. Creating a space that is comfortable, relatable and all about helping others. I love these moments of true life connections, I meet so many people and love what they all bring to my life. It's why I do what I do and continue to work hard towards all my goals.

Have you created workshops before what are your favorite takeaways?

2015 My Year in Words-Blogging

"I know the plans I have for you,...plans to prosper...."

Those words have never meant more to me than now. I have been writing my blog for almost 9 years, every year I feel I have reached a new high. Reached new goals and achieved all that I can. Then a new year rolls in and the unexpected happens. New doors open and dreams come to light. As a writer, a doer and someone who just wants to thrive within this area of my life. 2015 was no exception. I achieved many new goals as a writer being published for the first time and being invited to speak at events. As well as re-opening the door to creating and establishing a larger group of local Latina's. Houston Latina Bloggers. With the help of yes, DOS amazing writers who have become great friends, supporters and co-workers. Jihane, Ariana and I finally established some reachable goals and have set them into motion for our group.

2015 was a good one for Momma of Dos but for Houston Latina Bloggers, we closed off with a bang. At our first ever HLB networking event in September, an event a few years in the making. Thanks to Alicia the local shop owner over at Thinking Girls Boutique who just really believed in us and wrote us into her trusty calendar. Once it was scheduled I knew it was real. In a matter of weeks, we put our event together.  And today, thanks to many, our communities are now fully thriving. Seeing new bloggers emerge and knowing that your advice and pep-talks have helped lead the way. Is amazing.

In a matter of days a new year will begin leaving behind a year filled with life. Struggles, pains, growth and closed doors. No matter how many times I look back and think about those who never responded to my emails, never called when they said they would or just looked right over me; I also see all those who did and they have made my year an amazing one. Giving me new opportunities, letting me get my toes in the door and seeing what I am capable of. Seeking within me the strength and the wisdom learned over the years. Pushing me to rise above and do what is needed.

None of this is possible without, my family, my Husband who never quite understands the late nights and clickity-clack of my keyboard. But still he remains, he supports me and loves me just the same. My kids, who know that after my 8-5 job, I "wou-k" hours with no end on my computer at home. My true Latina Tribe and all the ladies on my side, who constantly cheer me on. Our HLB team is unique and we help each other achieve our vision. Genuinely.

As for me and my world, I am the one with two kids, a full-time job outside the home and so much to give and prove to the world. A world that once told me I was too poor to reach goals, a world that once told me I was too brown to dream, a world that I blocked out for years so that I could run for the finish line. 2015 was  a good one. Lots was achieved, but I feel the real work will be done in 2016, only to be able to reach new levels of confidence, strength, and wisdom.

In 2016 I want to be further inspired and motivated. I don't want to quit. I want to be further encouraged. I want to be able to say that I have come a long way but have finally reached that level of stability that I need to not just see my vision but be able to touch it with great clarity.

Are you ready for 2016? What do you want to achieve and dream up?

Why I Blog and how I will never compete with you.....

Where to begin?

Blogging. It started off as a "writing challenge" to myself. I wrote about anything really. Random happenings. Then, I got pregnant. In a desperate attempt to relate to someone and to know that the crazy baby happenings were normal; I sought out other "Mommy Bloggers". I found some of the best, and one of my biggest inspirations. Inspirations for sharing. Sharing, in a very vivid way, all the beautiful, sad and overwhelming details about life as a whole.

I gained a small but loyal following. Then life changed, once again. I was a "stay-at-home mom" with Dos {2} small toddlers. I learned about sponsors and compensation. Again, meeting and being mentored by some of the nations absolute best. I gained a little bigger audience and support.

I went back to work outside of my home after about 7 months.

Then big things started happening. My blog "took off". Lots of awesome opportunities. After a full year of work, home and "blog work". I decided that going "that big" wasn't for me. Why? Because I love working an "8-5" job that relates to my career and my college degree; which I am still paying off. But, I will continue to blog, always, no matter what. I will continue to network and meet new people. To seize opportunities and seek them. I will. Because I want to and I love it.

Working outside of my home, taking care of my home, blogging and volunteering. Most can't do it. Some don't want to. But me, it's a way to create and establish my balance. To be busy. To blog big or small. It's what I live for. My passion.

Am, I a huge blogger with a large following? Some times. I don't really look at that. I just like to write. I have fallen in love with telling my story and sharing our life. Small bits at a time. Do I take breaks? All the time. Do I feel overwhelmed? Some days. Do I quit? Never.

I feel that once this life is established there is really nothing else that fills the void or the need to be busy. Do I blog like other bloggers? Maybe not. But, to me that's OK....

As they say..I am too busy making my grass greener to be looking at your lawn.

Right now, I am seeking more. From myself mentally, physically and emotionally. I want my Husband and kids to be happy and stable. I seek to maintain my home life; cooking, cleaning, wiping butts, being Momma and Wife to the chaos. I want to grow and develop my career. Explore life and be a good writer with a loyal group of readers.

I will never compete with other Momma's or Bloggers... we are all so very different. Our stories and blogs were created for different purposes. And, that's OK with me.

Just a Friday morning thought....

::Life Lately:: Silence is Golden...

It's been quiet here lately. I have lots going on. Very little down time. New projects on the brain. My focus is to unfocus and some how it's brought me 360. My blog is very important to me.

But, sometimes.

Life takes over.

Life becomes difficult.

Some days I have to dig deep. Be reminded that love, support and blessings come from those nearest to my heart. My family. They are everything. They love us. They support us. They know how to be blessings.

I am human. I do allow life to overwhelm me. To take over me. To get me down. Then I seek. Deep in my heart, somewhere out in my soul and high towards the sky.

Suddenly. Love. Life. Smiles. Family. They overcome. They overwhelm my heart with goodness and I am once more reminded. I have nothing to fear. I should be inspired and motivated. I should rise above and DO everything I feel that I can do. Because it's possible. It's doable.

I am blessed.

Let me count the ways.

::Wordless Wednesday:: Kinda....

I started blogging in 2008, haven't stopped since and haven't looked back. I don't think it's something I knew I would do. It's also not something I planned or had a plan for it just kind of happened. I loved writing and became intrigued with other Bloggers success. Initially it was all about the writing and then slowly I learned that it was balance of words and pictures that readers like, especially other Momma's. I too am a visual learner so I love blogs with a good combination of inspiring words and beautiful pictures.

One thing I do know is that I strive to grow more and simply thrive. Blogging has now become my life, part of my career plan and more importantly my passion. I love it. I live it. And I love sharing it with others.

This past weekend my friend Ari from 3TwentySix and I set out on a an early morning adventure from our side of town to the Woodlands. We met some new bloggers, saw old friends and realized how much we want to THRIVE in this business. Wait for it..... we have some ideas brewing.

At the end of the day...it's all about being honest, being friendly being humble and doing what you LOVE to do! What about you, do you want to THRIVE and are you doing what you love to do?

::2015:: One Word + Goals

It's been days since 2015 began. It has had a gloomy start but nothing will hold us back. Starting the year off by giving myself a "break" from last year. A little break from writing to help me focus on life. I say that lightly. I really don't know how to take breaks. But, I have been, thinking. Reflecting on what's to come and oh yes, focusing

Focusing on a life once forgotten. And, the future of what will be.

::Focus::

It's my word for this year. In an effort to focus I created a new blog. Yes, I know. Hectic. But, we will see how far it goes. It's a focused blog on Women's careers', their passions and community. Latina Momma in Houston.

I also started a Vision Board on Pinterest to help me organize my thoughts. I am de-cluttering my home along the way and creating a better space for my writing and imagination to be more inspired and in tune with what really matters.

Focus, such a simple word.

1fo·cus

: a subject that is being discussed or studied : the subject on which people's attention is focused
: a main purpose or interest
: a point at which rays of light, heat, or sound meet or from which they move apart or appear to move apart;especially : the point at which an image is formed by a mirror, a lens, etc.

::Goals::

2015 for me will be one of focus, on not just my blogging topics but my career as well. As many of you may know, this is not what I do full-time and honestly, I like that I have  a full-time job outside of Blogging. Helps me keep a good balance. I discovered long ago that staying at home was not going to be an option for me, personally just can't do it. I prefer the chaos of work/life balance, the nonexistent down time and the network I have created through my jobs.

Focus this year will be on:

- Obtaining a better full-time job, currently the situation is toxic. Not fun. And very much un-motivating. It just never seems to be enough. I have fallen into this place of complacency that isn't healthy. I am afraid to fall into a normal everyday routine, not because I want to but because I have to. It basically sucks the life and passion right out of me. Finding the best place for me has been a journey worth traveling. I have so far learned what I am truly worth, and I can't accept anything less. I have also discovered that I don't want the kind of job that everyone else has because I know that something better is our there. I truly crave a different kind of life.

-Attending local and very specific events for my blog. Only taking those jobs I really want and find purpose in. Writing only about the things that motivate me and push my blog to a higher place not just what everyone else is doing because it's good for the business. I don't want to be a part of just anything. My blogging will probably be less and more purposeful and informative {due to prior conversations with other blogging and like-minded Momma's } as well as a journal type style about our everyday life.

-Working with truly like minded people. That's all.

-Writing at least twice a week on both blogs, January will be tricky but I think I can do it.

-Finding a school for my children. My kids will start school this fall. Pre-K and Kinder. We will see how this goes. Lots of research in the works.

-Attend Mixers and Networking events at least twice a month for personal, de-stressing purposes as well as to grow my network. {This is usually easier said than done.}

-De-clutter my home, very much needed.

-De-clutter my brain and re-gain focus. Which will help in relieving my everyday life from thoughts and ideas that are not serving much purpose.

I often find myself sighing at work, feeding off of the negative and frustrated air around me. I don't want that. It's not a good way to feel on a daily basis. I am usually a happy, positive person who wants to love their 8 to 5 job and feel good energy around them. These days , not so much.

2015 must be one of change towards a more focused life.

Last year I craved peace. I now have peace. I have peace in so many areas of my life that once lingered. Those places that are so difficult you feel like you are the only one dealing with them. Thoughts of what others may think, no longer. I am at peace with myself and the universe around me. Discovered that when people are not at peace with themselves they like to make others think they are the problem. Truth is all they need is peace in order to find peace around them.

In all, I have some work to do and slowly by surely it will get done and 2015 will be amazing. We had a minor set back this week, but nothing our little family can't handle.

What about you, what is your focus this year? Do you have a word that you have chosen to make your focus for this new year?

::Blogging Q & A::Parte Dos #mommatips

This is a continuation of my Blogging Q&A for anyone looking to get more information about this awesome world of sharing and writing:

Have you been to a Blog Conference and should I Invest in going to one?

YES and YES! I was changed by my first conference and the way I looked at my Blog. I was sponsored to attend my very first conference locally. It was an amazing experience and it really opened my world to the market of Latina Bloggers. I met a wonderful group of ladies and am constantly impressed by their persistence and determination, they were inspiring and continue to be the ones that constantly motivate me and push me to be more.

The workshops and seminars were all very helpful and the people there are so interesting and full of information!

That was Latism in 2012 and then last year I attended Blog Elevated which was an awesome refresher where I met; John and again another great group of ladies, some which I had already connected with and others that I have now become great friends with!

How to get sponsors for the blog?

This is going to sound so bad. But, most the sponsored posts that I have done, the PR's have contacted me. Some I have applied for through various groups that I have signed up with, like SITS and Mom Central. Other than that I have been Blessed to have been contacted by a couple of marketing and PR companies that I have worked with throughout the last year or so.

I would say put your Blog out there, join different groups and sign up for different newsletters where you can be constantly informed of what different companies have to offer. Word of advice. Don't do too many at once start with a couple and go from there, it becomes overwhelming at first. I have had to pass up on opportunities that I just didn't have time for.

WordPress vs Blogger?

It's really a matter of preference and what you get use to. I started on Wordpress in 2008 and then converted to Blogger in 2010, it seemed more user-friendly and provided more options as a beginner. I like it. I love the simplicity of WordPress though and I think it's become better to navigate but for now I am sticking to Blogger. I love it.

I would say; use what works for you!

How do you find time for it all?

I am not going to lie....it's difficult sometimes. I often found myself writing at 1 or 2 am just to get a post in for that day. But, these days I post as I have ideas and when I have time, unless I have deadlines to meet with another Blog or Sponsor. I work 8 to 5 pm outside the home every day and then run home to pick-up my kids, clean up, cook dinner and get ready for the next day.

I also squeeze in exercising and for about a month now I have been doing my yearly Rodeo Volunteer work which will end at the end of Feb and then Rodeo begins and this Momma is going to enjoy some concerts! But, I manage and time becomes available.

It's life, we will always have time for those things we find important and meaningful!

How do you make your pictures pretty?

Well if you are awesome you would use Photoshop but I am average so I rely on websites like PICMONKEY.COM or Photoscape. Both are free and easy to use!

::Blogging Q & A::Parte Uno #mommatips

I was selected by Texas Women Bloggers to be a Blogger Mentor last week and the Blogger I was paired with is so awesome! She is Becca a blogger from Austin, if you have a chance check out her Blog and "Like" her on Social Media!! http://www.twoplacesatonceblog.com/

Her goals along with questions from other aspiring Bloggers about writing and blogging got me thinking about what the basics of Blogging are as well as how I got started and what keeps me going!

Here are some of the questions that I have come across in the last year and those answers I feel are relevant:

How long have you been Blogging?
Really I have always blogged, I have always been a journal writing kind of gal. Then MySpace provided a platform for Blogging. And, I used it. A lot. Then in 2008, I found Heather Armstrong and WordPress. I started my blog as a space for practicing my writing and when I became pregnant it became a little more. Then in 2009 I switched to Blogger, fell in love and in 2011 I became Momma of Dos

Will you change the name of your Blog if you have another baby?
Most likely, not too different I have a creative change in mind though! Not really take away who I am but more like add to it. Ha. If that makes sense... But, that's a BIG HUGE maybe right now. It's also the main reason I have not switched over to an actual domain site. Waiting.

Where do you get your ideas?
Honestly, if my post is not a paid or sponsored post where the company has assigned a topic, then most my topics come from real life. Things my kids do, things my Mexican family does, food we cook and things we do or feel as a family and individuals. And, a little behind the scene work comes from my Hubby! My Hubby will not admit it but if we are out and about or doing something with the kids he will say... "You should blog about this!" or "Here is a Blog topic for you...." He really is a huge contributor and inspiration on this here blog!

I also am a part of several Blogger groups and follow a ton of other fellow Amazing, Motivating and Inspiring Bloggers and have created some post based on others feedback and questions like these!

How do I change the design of my Blog?
Way back when I had time, I created my own headers and coded my own designs but these days I have to pay someone to help me out; my most recent help has come from Olivia Smith a local Blog designer she exhibits her work over at http://livysmithdesigns.com/ .   That is one thing I am passionate about is using local resources! But, there are several others that I love! I have to compile a list. My good friend Ruby from GUBLife and her Hubby have very unique blog designs, you can visit her design site here:  http://www.rubysdesignstudio.com/

How do I increase my Social Media following?
I started by using those FB pages that said, follow so many and we will follow you back. But, you quickly realize that, that's not your real audience. They just follow you because they want to gain followers. I gained a lot of followers that way but stopped. What has worked best for me is sharing everywhere! On my personal FB, on Twitter, on Instagram! I ask people to join me on my journey and many do and those that do, well they read and follow my post in the most amazing and loyal way!

I also share in various like-minded Blogger groups that I belong to and they follow. There is a feature on your FB fanpage where you can ask people to "like" your page, I do that a lot. Along with creating FB groups of my own! And, yes sharing!! I am sure I become annoying to some, but I love blogging and the goal is to share some will join you, others will not and that's okay too!

How do you find your niche?
Honestly this is an on-going journey for me; while I started as a "MommaBlogger" with personal post and online journaling just to keep track of my family. My Blog has slowly evolved to a Lifestyle & Parenting Blog with a mix of culture, food and now fitness! I love writing so I don't think I will ever stop trying to create new topics! My goal is be a relate-able Momma for all audiences. I am not perfect. Life is not perfect and I don't just want to be a Momma who writes, I want to be a Momma who inspires and motivates action!

Jon Acuff is another Author who truly inspires me and motivates me to push forward! He said it best this morning!

{Blogging?} Que es Eso?

It's what I feel like the last couple of months if it weren't for my deadlines over at  Houston Mom's Blog and Houston Latina Bloggers ,I probably wouldn't be writing at all.

It's been busy and now it's cold so I have excuses. Ha.

{It's funny but when tough times come not many are around, it helps you appreciate the silence and those who are willing to not only listen but help when help is needed. The last few weeks have been difficult because you know Life is that way sometimes. I don't like to complain {but I do, I am human right? Definitely try to change this...daily.}, I don't like to "over-share" my troubles {as funny as that may sound, considering I have a blog and am all over all the social media sites.} and I don't tend to dwell {at least not anymore} on people, situations or thoughts.}

These days, what happened today. Well it pretty much stays there. My children and my Hubby need me on a day to day basis. They hear me out and I move on.

With that said. Life is busy and complicated some days. I can't promise much but I will say this...feel free to look around, check out my Facebook page I am there daily! We have a neat daily post going on right now; our November Thankful countdown to Thanksgiving where we share what we are thankful for on a daily basis.

I also have the following sites where you can follow me and keep up to date on what is going on with us:

{ I don't believe life was meant to be easy, if not what fun would that be...every day can be a challenge but overcoming those challenges are not only adventures but definitely worth it. A learning experience in every moment good or bad.}

"Sun in the Closet"

It's the best expression I have heard in a while....

I heard it this weekend as a good friend assessed my current job and abilities.

"Really Connie? It's like putting the Sun in the closet."

I couldn't help but smile and think....

It's true. You know those moments of shade or maybe even darkness in your life...when the Sun is stuck in the closet?

There come moments in life when we don't have all the answers, when we don't know what direction is best, and when we just don't shine the way we used to...

I think Dr. Seuss said it best in "Oh, the places you'll Go!" when he stated....

"And when you're in a Slump,
you're not in for much fun.
Un-slumping yourself
is not easily done."

{Yes, I totally just opened the book and looked for this line....}

Not sure what kind of a place I am in but what ever it is, it's not my usual place.

Maybe I am in that place right before the door is ready to open and the Sun is peeking through waiting for the perfect moment to shine bright again and say... "HERE I AM!"

Maybe it's a moment of change and transformation, that I am not quite aware of...or that isn't very clear.

What ever it is, it's a weird place and I am ready for the Sun to shine once more outside the closet....just don't know how to get it going again.

If motivation, and inspiration surround me, then what is stopping me?

No idea.

But, I am ready to let the Sun out of the closet and let it SHINE! Shine. SHINE! Shine.

{Buenos Dias} Mornin'!

When my children wake up. They wake up! Out of bed and into breakfast.

breakfastsaturday

This morning was a quiet one.

They had breakfast and I watered my plants. I often forget and I definitely don't have a green thumb but thanks to my Dad and a good friend, today my garden grows.

What about you? What was are your Saturday mornings about?

Dear Friday,
why HELLO! So glad you are here!!

fridayletters

Dear Life,
Thank you for the amazing Blessings that you bring my family and I everyday...we know that at times we treat you bad, we curse you and we even "dislike" you but you know what....we embrace you. We embrace the place we are in right now and even though it's not exactly what we expected, we work hard everyday to reach a new goal and new levels. We are Blessed and we thank you not only for allowing us to grow but for all the amazing opportunities you give us day in and day out to start over....and maybe get things right tomorrow.

Dear ME, Yes me!
Don't forget that we are all here for a reason and even though your purpose isn't as clear or as executed as you wish...it will come...your day will come. Be strong, keep the faith and MOVE forward...you are stronger than most and you have survived a lot...you can make it through this.

Dear Hubby,
It's been a crazy year, soon we will have all kind of celebrations but in advanced....Thank you !! No matter how difficult things have gotten, you put up with my BLAH-NESS and we move forward...together. I don't say it enough..I appreciate you. I love you and I really can't live without you.

Dear Minions {also known as Cami and Santi},
You are the most beautiful Blessings in my life, not sure where my life would be had you not come along. I love you more and more everyday and no matter how much we fight and how many tantrums you throw or how much mess you make or how many times you miss the toilet...I will always love you more than anything ever. {Sidetracked} Mes de Agosto

SIDETRACKEDMINION

It's August! {Hola Agosto!}

I am excited. I think I have said it a million times today but I honestly believe it; August is going to be a good month

A lot of fun activities scheduled. As everyone prepares to go "back" to school we just have a continuance of the school year. My kids are in daycare and they go to school, ALL the time. I know some kids would probably cringe but it's true, especially since this Momma got a new job back in May.

Which is why we have been a little {or a lot} sidetracked.

I mean between just now getting back on a schedule or routine again, all the daycare adjustments and work training; it's been hectic. Oh and did I mention the sicks? In July we were sick. All of us, for a while. I think we are finally back on track though.

Which is difficult considering that for a while now I have not been one to follow strict schedules and routines simply because the organized chaos works best for us. I know that children need some structure and believe me we have structure, we just don't like to get stuck in the same routine or schedule everyday...I think it's my un-diagnosed ADHD. I can't sit still and I can't do the same thing over and over. I have tried. And, really I have been there and done that, and for some reason since I had the kids the less scheduling the better and things just seem to fall into place for us. Not saying we don't plan anything because we do but we just don't plan everything.

What was I saying? You see sidetracked.

It happens that quick. But, August will be my month to regain some control, some structure and some scheduling. I am exited, and happy. Cause, have I told you? I have a big announcement tomorrow. I can't wait! Agh!

HOPE  YOU WILL JOIN ME, OH AND TELL YOUR AMIGAS {&AMIGOS} ABOUT IT. It's going to be fun! And, if you don't follow us PLEASE DO:

{Friday Letters}

fridayletters

Dear Friday,
It’s been a good and very productive week. At work, at home and on my mission to be a more dedicated and motivated 32 year old ME. My house is organized and I think almost fully recovered from last weekend’s celebration.
Thank you for being here.
I really needed you.
See ya’next week!

Dear NYC,
I plan to meet you one day soon, if it’s not for a conference it will be for some fun!
See you soon!

Dear Life,
I am 32. Life is good. That is all.
Love you!!

Dear Perspective,
I see you, I hear you and trust me I am coming to get you. I will not give up and I will move forward. I know what it will take to get to where I want to be. Hard work, patience, dedication and time. I will get there on many levels and in many areas of my life.
Thank you for opening my eyes up this week!
Your attentive heart and mind,
Momma of Dos

Dear Houston Heat,
You are HOT! And, I don’t mean in a wink wink meow kinda way....I mean in a I want to sit in a tub of ice  and take a long dip in the Arctic Ocean kinda way!
You is a hot mess!

Happy Friday everyone! We made it to the weekend.....

Oh! So, you don't say...JUNE!

June is one of my favorite. I was born June 29 almost 32 years ago now.  My Hubby doesn't like to make a big deal out of his birthday ever. It's just another day. And, as I have gotten older it's no longer about a party or big festive celebration but more so about reflection and spending time with close friends and of course my beautiful little family!

To me it's a new year filled with new beginning and renewed hope of life! A little like a New Years Eve celebration of my life...haha. One more year on the face of this earth. Making new memories and seeking new ways to improve.

Most days I just see age as another number.  A reflection of the number of years on this earth facing life, every day, day by day. The growth, the lessons learned and the wisdom endured have all caught up to me.... I think. You can tell by the fact that I no longer have the same tolerance and/or the same mentality.

In my 20's I thought I would conquer it all and that I knew it all. I have since gotten married and had children and turned 30, not that I am this huge pot of " I got it all together" but the clarity that comes with the new perspective is pretty impressive. I can now look back and say... "what was I thinking?!" I am sure that in 8 short years when I turn 40, I will be even more en-lighted.

I know I have been promising pictures and posts and YAY-NESS and goodies..but life has been a little hectic lately and getting back into the routine of work has not been easy...I have a couple of deadlines to meet so hopefully I can get those post done.

UNTIL THEN...HAPPY 3 rd day of JUNE!!!!!

Three times a Mami: Visions of Staying at Home Dance in my Head

Not long after I graduated from college and started working full time, I became a wife and a Mami. So basically, all my adult life, I've been working from 9 to 5, five days a week. Now nine years and three kids later, I can’t help but feel the longing of wanting to stay home and tend to my family all day.
I’ll sometimes catch myself trying to do the math and balance the budget to see if it’d be possible, to stay at home and be a one-income household. If push comes to shove, I’m confident we’d manage but right now I don’t know if we’d be able to do with less. We like the perks and commodities we have as a two-income household.
It can be difficult and sometimes daunting being both a full time mom and a full time employee. I find myself wanting to throw in the professional towel when my kids bring low grades from school, the house is a mess and there’s no spare time to do any of the crafts and activities you’d hope to do with your kids. But, unless it's gotten to a point were you HAVE TO intervene, you just have to keep moving forward.
Us working moms need to trust our abilities to juggle career and family life. However, when we feel a ball is about to come loose, we need to make sure that the ball we drop isn't family.

This week we went to he bookstore... it was good but I think it will get better... Next stop a Public Library! OH MY!
